The latest round of matches in Sky Bet League One got underway on Friday night when Coventry City and Peterborough played out a draw which leaves 11 fixtures in the third tier on Saturday as we begin to head towards the halfway stage of the campaign.
This is a big week in the division with another set of games coming up in midweek so there is a chance for many teams to make a significant move over the next few days and it will be interesting to see who takes their chance.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows:
AFC Wimbledon v Southend United
Barnsley v Doncaster Rovers
Blackpool v Burton Albion
Bradford City v Oxford United
Charlton Athletic v Bristol Rovers
Gillingham v Luton Town
Plymouth Argyle v Fleetwood Town
Rochdale v Accrington Stanley
Scunthorpe United v Portsmouth
Walsall v Sunderland
Wycombe Wanderers v Shrewsbury Town
Big Matches
The League 1 leaders Portsmouth made a long trip to Glanford Park to take on Scunthorpe United on Saturday afternoon knowing a win will keep them top but if they lose Sunderland have the chance to hit the summit when they head to Walsall for the first time in two Saturdays. Third placed Barnsley have a local derby against Doncaster Rovers at Oakwell while Luton Town make the trip over the Dartford Crossing to face Gillingham.
Best of the Rest
Bradford City take on Oxford City in what is a big clash at the bottom end of the table while AFC Wimbledon need to pick up a victory when they host Southend United. Plymouth host Fleetwood while the other team in the bottom four, Bristol Rovers, head to Charlton who will make their way back into the top six if they win that match. Blackpool host Burton in another appealing match.

Betting
I like two bets across the course of the day on Saturday with the first coming on a Sunderland side who are living up to my pre-season expectations. They head to Walsall who haven’t really ever got going at home this season and who look to be vulnerable here. Sunderland have won their last four on the road and have picked up some big wins in that time. They have won at Doncaster as well as on the lengthy trip to Plymouth and I fancy them again here. Walsall have only won one of their last five and as I say their home form isn’t fantastic. I think Sunderland will take some beating here and will take them on the Asian lines.
I also expect my team Luton Town to pick up three points on the road too. Much has rightly been made of their performance against Plymouth last week and they look to be ticking along nicely. Gillingham won’t have wanted to go to extra time in midweek and if they have some heavy legs then Luton could certainly exploit that. I’ve seen Luton take weakened sides to Gillingham in the Checkatrade Trophy in recent years and win. This won’t be a weak side. This will be their strongest and I think it will be good enough to see off a Gillingham who’ve shipped four to Peterborough and Sunderland on their own patch already this term.
