It is the final day of the German Darts Grand Prix on Monday and as ever when a European Tour event concludes it is a busy day for the players who make it all the way to the final. In total there are still four rounds of the competition left and with the extend format this season whoever lifts the trophy will certainly have deserved to do so.
It was not a good day to be a seed on the opening day of the event with a number of them tumbling out pretty early on which means we have some household names and some lesser known ones taking to the stage when the last 16 is played out on Monday afternoon. As ever we will preview the last 16 but time restrictions will deny us the chance to assess the evening session.
First Four Matches
Arguably the match of the round takes place first up on Monday afternoon when Michael Smith faces James Wade at this stage for the second weekend in succession. Mensur Suljovic will then take to the stage to face the local man Max Hopp before Joe Cullen meets Steve West. The last match before the interval sees Peter Wright facing Alan Tabern.
Last Four Matches
The world champion will get the action back underway in the session when Rob Cross faces the youngster Luke Humphries. The other match which is a candidate for the tie of the round comes next when Daryl Gurney plays Ian White. Keegan Brown then does battle against the gritty Darren Webster and the afternoon concludes with Michael van Gerwen facing Alan Norris.

Betting
I’m going with just the one bet in the last 16 given that a number of the matches look either tough to call or a little one-sided or have a favourite who is about the right price. My bet comes quite late in the afternoon.
It is on Keegan Brown who was excellent in beating Simon Whitlock on Sunday. He averaged 103.2 with 11 140s and a couple of 180s in 10 legs but the impressive thing was the 60% checkout that he registered. To be fair Darren Webster played as well against Dave Chisnall where he averaged 101.18 with a 50% checkout rate but he hasn’t been winning many matches recently unlike Brown who arrived in the better form of the two and can make it into the quarter final at the expense of the Norfolk man.
