2018 Mzansi Super League – Wednesday 12th December Matches Betting Preview

The final day of the Mzansi Super League regular season is a double header of action on Wednesday with third spot in the table still the centre of attention as we complete the line up for the final stage of the tournament.

The Nelson Mandela Bay Giants are in the box seat for that third spot but the Paarl Rocks and the Tshwane Spartans can still pip them to it on what could be a dramatic day of action with all the mathematics surrounding it.

Paarl Rocks vs Nelson Mandela Bay Giants

The opening match of the day sees the Paarl Rocks taking on the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants with the equation being pretty simple for the home side. They have to win with the bonus point to make it into the third place spot. A Bay Giants win secures third place for them but even a narrow loss could be enough for them.

Clearly Paarl are going to have to take plenty of risks in this match because they need to win by a sizeable margin but that brings in them not winning at all into the equation. Nelson Mandela Bay Giants might get to the stage where they are happy to play for a narrow loss knowing it is extremely likely to be enough to get them through so I can’t be backing them and I’d rather not be on a side who are going to be taking risks more dangerous than I would like.

Tshwane Spartans vs Durban Heat

If the Paarl Rocks win but do not get the bonus point then that third spot will go down to the final match of the regular season as the Tshwane Spartans can steal it if they beat the Durban Heat and get the bonus point. This will be the final match of the season for the Durban Heat regardless of what happens here.

The Spartans have had it tough with the schedule here. They were playing on Tuesday evening in Johannesburg and getting pumped while they were at it. Although there are not a million miles between Johannesburg and Centurion playing at altitude and then having to back up less than 24hrs later is not going to be easy for them.

To be fair the Durban Heat have offered the square root of nothing in this tournament but they can be very dangerous here. They have the luxury of being able to swing from the hip with a bit of freedom here and good players don’t become useless overnight. They will be fresher than their tired opponents who might really struggle to get up for this if they have nothing to play for. I’ll take the Heat in this one.
