The Royal London One Day Cup continues on Friday with three matches across the two groups as six more sides get their limited overs campaigns underway. By the end of the day we will be left with just two counties yet to get going in the competition.
We have one match from the North Group on Friday which is the later starting match of the three and is the televised game while the other two matches come from the South Group. They are not on TV so we’ll rely on the wonderful county social media services and radio commentaries to keep up with them.
North Group
After wins for Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire in this group on Thursday it is the turn of Durham and Yorkshire to get things going in their campaign on Friday. The two do battle at Chester-le-Street but sadly the England players are away from this point onwards which denies us the chance of seeing some household names.
South Group
We have two matches in the South Group on Friday. The 2015 winners of this competition Gloucestershire get their campaign underway when they head to Sophia Gardens to take on Glamorgan while the pick of the two matches sees the beaten finalists of the last three years in Surrey hosting a dangerous looking Somerset side at The Oval.

Betting
I’m going with three bets on Friday and they all come from the TV match where I’m attacking the side markets. The first market I like is the performance of Tim Bresnan. The line is 38.5 but I think that is quite low on a man I expect to be heavily involved in the match as a senior player. Bresnan is likely to bowl at the important times, especially at the death where the cheap wickets come along and we know he is a capable batsman too. I’m guessing he’ll field in the key areas as well so I fancy him to go over here. Two wickets will do us but when you add up his points for runs, wickets and catches I expect it to be 39 or more.
On the flip side of that I’m not expecting the boundaries to be peppered here. This is a huge outfield and unlike at Old Trafford on Thursday the outfield isn’t always quick here either. There was a high scoring match here last year when Lancashire put up over 300 and yet there were only 54 boundaries. These two last met here two years ago when Durham’s 281/7 was 15 too good for Yorkshire and there were 48 boundaries then. Both batting line ups look weaker now and with a number of players out of form I’m not expecting to see more than 53.5 boundaries in this one.
Stuart Poynter made a career best score of 170 in the Championship in midweek so he is clearly hitting the ball well and he could be worth a nibble in the top Durham batsman market. There is a bit of quality above him in the order but there is a flimsy look to it too with a couple of youngsters who can be hit and miss and only really Collingwood and Latham who look reliable. Poynter can score quickly so if he isn’t chasing much he should be able to catch up quickly. At 20/1 he’s worth a poke.
