The second round of the latest Rolex Series event, the Turkish Airlines Open, takes place on Friday with the entire field looking to move themselves into a position from which to strike over the weekend.
Nobody has to worry about a cut this week so everyone in the tournament can relax and look to bring out their best golf and either boost their potential earnings or put themselves in a position to win what is a big tournament.
Round 1 Recap
Paul Dunne goes into the second round of the tournament with a one shot lead after he carded a 64 on the opening day which was a shot too good for the rest of the field. There are a trio of players one shot behind him heading into Friday with the defending champion Justin Rose and the former winner Thorbjorn Olesen among them. Padraig Harrington is the other man. A decent group of players are two behind Dunne and they include our outright bets Kiradech Aphibarnrat and Sam Horsfield.
It was a winner and a loser from our bets on the three ball markets on Thursday with Nicolas Colsaerts delivering the goods for us while Lucas Herbert struggled but probably wouldn’t have been good enough to beat Tom Lewis in the end anyway. That yielded a slight profit for them which we’ll look to build on across Friday.
Friday Betting
There is a second round leader market betting but I’m a little reluctant to get involved in it. There are a couple of reasons for that. There isn’t a huge amount of value on anyone I fancy or would consider in the market and also there is so much quality towards the head of the leaderboard that anyone could come out with the lead after the second round of the event so it is an easy enough swerve at this stage.

Friday 3 Balls
The leading trio of Paul Dunne, Padraig Harrington and Justin Rose go out at 9.05 GMT and they will carry much of the galleries around with them on the second day of competition. The Shane Lowry, Tommy Fleetwood and Tom Lewis group out at 7.45 GMT will be popular as well. From a betting point of view I am going for the penultimate group for my bet on Friday.
Thomas Detry/Ashun Wu/Thorbjorn Olesen
Match tees off at 8.55 GMT
The penultimate match out onto the golf course on Friday sees the former champion Thorbjorn Olesen out with the Belgian powerhouse Thomas Detry and the Chinese star Ashun Wu with all three looking to enhance their credentials in the tournament.
Olesen shot one better than both his playing partners in this second round on Thursday and in fairness he is already looking extremely ominous in this tournament and I think he’ll beat the other two here. Detry is a danger but he lacks the class of Olesen and while I like Wu I’m not sure he is going to better the Dane on this track either. I’m surprised we can get even money on the Ryder Cup star here but I’ll gladly take it.
Tips
