With the Carabao Cup Final disrupting the Premier League weekend, the latest round of matches concludes with just the two matches on Sunday afternoon, one which sees the race for the top four very much in the spotlight.
One of the two matches is live on TV for those of us who are in the UK while the other one has various other means of being kept up to date on so there is no need to miss any of the action. We’ll begin the preview with the live game.
Everton vs Manchester United
Two sides who have their eyes on European football next season meet in the live game as Everton take on Manchester United in what feels like a bigger match than it is being made out to be, especially with the ban hanging over Manchester City.
Should fifth placed yield a Champions League spot then both these clubs are in the mix for that, with United currently occupying that position and Everton able to move to within a couple of points of them should they pick up all three here. Everton won this match 4-0 last term and initially I was thinking of taking them to win this match as well, but United’s Europa League outing wasn’t as tough as I thought it might be on Thursday night and given that they have a decent record against sides who like to dominate the ball this term I’m happy to leave this one alone.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Wolverhampton Wanderers
The match away from the cameras might be even bigger as the sixth and eighth placed sides meet in a clash that will see the winner move into fifth spot should Manchester United not win earlier in the day, as Tottenham Hotspur host Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Things have gone pear-shaped quite quickly for Tottenham. Their Premier League form is mixed and they have just taken a right beating by Bayern Munich in the Champions League and you don’t fancy Spurs to score a goal at the minute without Son Heung-min and Harry Kane. Wolves have one defeat in their last six in the Premier League and that was against Liverpool which is no shame. They have kept three clean sheets and have a front three who are all in great form, unlike their opponents. Even when Spurs have been winning recently it hasn’t been convincing. I don’t see them winning here. Wolves draw no bet looks the best bet to me.
