The final two matches before the last day of the Premier League season take place on Wednesday evening as three of the big four are on show on what should be a night where we see some free-flowing and top quality football.
The battle for the Champions League spots is the overriding story on the evening on a night which Liverpool fans in particular have been looking forward to for 30 years. As ever both matches are on TV so unless you support a Championship side there is no need to miss any of the action.
Manchester United vs West Ham United (18.00 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)
The first match of the night sees Manchester United looking to take control of their own destiny when they host West Ham United. A win for Man Utd will see them move into the top four while West Ham need to avoid a heavy defeat.
Anything West Ham pick up here will confirm their Premier League status for next season, so technically they are playing for something, but in reality they just need to avoid a couple of heavy beatings if they are to be in the top flight next term. Manchester United have to win here but they need to bounce back from the FA Cup semi-final where although the team selection was questionable, they looked a leggy team anyway, understandably given their schedule. I expect Man Utd to win this but I’m not chasing handicaps on them.

Liverpool vs Chelsea (20.15 – Sky Main Event, Sky Premier League, Sky One & Pick)
Liverpool will finally get their hands on the Premier League trophy on Wednesday night but before they do that they will take on a Chelsea team with whom a bit of a rivalry has developed over the last decade or so.
In terms of competitiveness or records or anything Liverpool aren’t playing for a while lot here, although I’m sure some wacky stats man will find something, but Chelsea certainly are. The Blues know they will be in control of their own destiny in terms of the race for the Champions League whatever happens here, but they can secure a top four finish if they can come away from Anfield with the three points.
The days of Liverpool being reliable to bet on this season have long gone but they will do well not to put this Chelsea defence under significant pressure. There’s no real reason why Chelsea won’t have a bit of a go here. This is effectively a free shot at confirming their top four status so I’m expecting to see some goals here. The goal line is 2.75 which Liverpool can cover on their own if they get going. Chelsea have goals in them though so I like the over here.
