2019-20 Sky Bet Championship – Wednesday 23rd October Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The midweek round of matches in the Championship conclude on Wednesday evening, when the final five fixtures take place over what should be another decent night of action despite the relative shortage of games.

We saw the usual thrills, spills and surprise results in the games which were played on Tuesday, and we will probably get much of the same on Wednesday, a night where all five games are on TV either on the main channel or the red button.

Wednesday’s fixtures are as follows: (All 19.45 kick offs)

Bristol City v Charlton Athletic

Derby County v Wigan Athletic

Fulham v Luton Town

Huddersfield Town v Middlesbrough

Nottingham Forest v Hull City

Nottingham Forest are the highest team in action on Wednesday evening when they play host to Hull City. A win for Forest will see them move back to second place in the table with Hull City looking to ease themselves away from danger. Bristol City and Charlton Athletic meet at Ashton Gate where both sides have a shot at going back into the top six if they can find their way to the three points in that contest.

It could be that the most entertaining match of the five is the one at Craven Cottage where Fulham will look to get back to winning ways when they host a Luton Town side who are beginning to show their worth in this division and prove to everyone that they belong in it. There is a ding dong at the bottom of the table when Huddersfield Town host Middlesbrough in the TV match while Derby County take on Wigan Athletic in the other match.

Tips

I’ll go with the one bet in these five matches. I’m extremely tempted by the over between Fulham and Luton Town but Fulham matches have suddenly seen the goals dry up which isn’t ideal. With that in mind, I’ll head down to the bottom end of the table and get stuck into the contest between Huddersfield Town and Middlesbrough where I think the home side are good things.

Huddersfield look like they are a side on the up under the Cowley brothers. They are unbeaten in four and going in the right direction while Middlesbrough have one win in eight to their name and even that was unconvincing against a poor Reading side at the time. It is worse than that on the road for Boro with no wins in five and defeat at Birmingham recently highlighted their issues. Huddersfield suddenly look to have more of a goal threat and while they are not as tight as they would like to be as a result, they might not face much of a test defensively here. I fancy a home win in this one.
