2019 ATP Miami Open Tennis – Day 6 Betting Preview

We see the conclusion of the third round of the ATP Miami Open on Monday when the bottom half of the draw plays out at the wonderful complex they have put together at the Hard Rock Stadium in Florida.

This tournament is bubbling along nicely and we continue to see some wonderful tennis and with Roger Federer on the card on Monday we should see plenty more. Some good looking matches accompany him so there is much to look forward to.

Stadium Court

We have to wait for the women to open up play on the main show court on Monday before the first men’s match but it should be a good game when it comes along as Roger Federer looks for a place in the last 16 when he takes on Filip Krajinovic who is hitting the ball nicely at the minute. There is just the one other match in the men’s draw on this court on Monday which sees Frances Tiafoe taking on David Ferrer.

Grandstand

We get to enjoy three men’s matches out on the Grandstand court, which is proving quite a popular spot this week. Kevin Anderson is on court first up when he takes on Joao Sousa before a women’s match comes along. After that is done though a pair of men’s matches take centre stage with Denis Shapovalov going up against Andrey Rublev and Stefanos Tsitsipas meeting Leonardo Mayer for a place in the last 16 of a high profile event.

Court 1

The other three men’s matches take place at the other end of the park out on Court 1 with Grigor Dimitrov getting the early start to face Australian marathon man Jordan Thompson. After a women’s match Daniil Medvedev fights power with power against the home star Reilly Opelka and then the one remaining match sees Marco Cecchinato going up against David Goffin to round off what should be a good day on this court.

Jordan Thompson looked bang average to me in the first round and probably just got Karen Khachanov on the right day in the second one but I fancy he will meet his match in the form of Grigor Dimitrov. I was worried about the fitness of the Bulgarian initially but I needn’t have been as he looked a million dollars in thrashing Feliciano Lopez in the previous round. Dimitrov has a good all-round game and I expect that to be far too much for a Thompson who runs all day and fights hard but who lacks weapons on this slow court.

David Ferrer has rolled back the years in the first two rounds of the tournament and I see no reason why he can’t win again on Monday night when he faces Frances Tiafoe. I didn’t think much to Tiafoe in the previous round and with a little more poise and nous Miomir Kecmanovic would have dumped him out. Ferrer can do the job though. Not only did Tiafoe look erratic and inconsistent in the second round but at the end of it he could barely move. Being made to run all night by the Spaniard isn’t going to help him much. It is the veteran for me here.
