2019 ATP Miami Open Tennis – Day 7 Betting Preview

The ATP Miami Open has moved swiftly to the round of 16 stage at the Hard Rock Stadium out in Florida and all eight matches will take place on the two show courts over the afternoon and evening on Tuesday.

The big names all made it through their challenges on Monday so we are set for a very entertaining day of tennis on Tuesday, with some good matches and some great players taking to the stage looking for quarter final spots.

Stadium Court

Three of the eight matches take place on the main show court on Tuesday with the men getting it on from the start. British fans will be interested in the opening game as Kyle Edmund takes on the defending champion John Isner. After a women’s match the world number one Novak Djokovic takes centre stage. He faces a potentially tricky test against Roberto Bautista Agut before Roger Federer meets Daniil Medvedev in the men’s match in the night session.

Grandstand

It is men’s matches all the way on the Grandstand court on Tuesday. Felix Auger-Aliassime goes up against the big hitting Nikoloz Basilashvili before the eye catching match of the day on this court takes place. That sees Borna Coric meeting Nick Kyrgios and after they’ve slugged it out Kevin Anderson goes up against Jordan Thompson. The last two matches on this court see David Goffin and Frances Tiafoe getting it on before Stefanos Tsitsipas meets Denis Shapovalov in what should be another entertaining clash.

Betting

Two bets for me over the course of the evening. The first of them comes on the main stadium court where I fancy Roberto Bautista Agut to keep Novak Djokovic honest. Djokovic hasn’t looked fantastic in these slow conditions so far in the tournament and Bautista Agut has either beaten the Serb or taken a set from him in each of their last four meetings. These slower conditions probably won’t hurt the Spaniard and although I expect Djokovic to find a way through here, their recent history suggests that RBA with the start is the way to go here.

I’m convinced Frances Tiafoe’s run ends sooner rather than later and it can be against the classy ball striker David Goffin. I accept Goffin could be better on the serve but he can have Tiafoe doing plenty of running here and there can’t be a lot left in the tank of the American. He finished his match with Ferrer, a 2hr plus marathon, deep into the evening on Monday so hasn’t had a lot of recovery time. Goffin had a stroll against Cecchinato in the previous round and he can use that freshness to end the challenge of the American here.
