2019 Czech Darts Open – Last 16 Tips and Betting Preview

It is the final day of the Czech Darts Open on Sunday which as ever begins with the last 16 in the afternoon session ahead of the remainder of the competition taking place in the evening on a busy final day of action.

I thought we might see some seeds fall on Saturday and 11 of the 16 did exactly that so there is a wide open look to Sunday. We saw plenty of excellent darts on Saturday but we might be in for the same in nerves and tension on Sunday. As always time restrictions stop us previewing the quarter finals onwards but we will look at the afternoon games.

First Four Matches

The action begins with the man who sensationally dumped Michael van Gerwen out of the competition on Saturday in Keegan Brown. His reward for that is a clash with Danny Noppert before Mensur Suljovic goes up against the young gun Ted Evetts. Former world champion Stephen Bunting then goes up against a Chris Dobey who will be looking for successive European Tour finals on Sunday. Daryl Gurney then takes us into the break when he does battle with Jermaine Wattimena.

Later Four Matches

The action gets back underway with the highest seed remaining in the tournament in Ian White. He has a meeting with Andrew Gilding to negotiate while Jamie Hughes then takes on Ron Meulenkamp. The afternoon concludes with a couple of juicy looking matches as Mervyn King goes up against the confident Australian player Corey Cadby while Gerwyn Price, the nine-dart hero on Saturday, takes on another Aussie in the form of Simon Whitlock, to conclude the afternoon.

Betting

I won with three outsiders on Saturday but it is a couple of favourites that I am taking on Sunday, the first of which is Danny Noppert. The consistent Dutchman has no weakness to his game and I think he can see off a Keegan Brown which can be erratic as well as hit or miss but who is also coming into this match off the back of a huge win which he will have to get over pretty quickly. It is never easy to follow up the emotional clearing of the mountain top and then go again the next day and I expect Brown to struggle with that. Noppert can take advantage and pick up the win.

Chris Dobey made the final of the last European Tour event and I expect him to take another step towards attempting to go one stage further in this tournament when he plays Stephen Bunting on Sunday. Bunting is coming back to form and that is good to see but Dobey is where it is at currently and in the form he is in he is hard to oppose. Both men have solid wins with good performances in the first round on Saturday but with the extra form and confidence Dobey is carrying he’s my pick in this one.
