2020-21 Premier League – Monday 19th October Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

Another Premier League weekend concludes with the Monday Night Football on an evening where there are two matches on the schedule as four teams away from the big six get the spotlight to themselves looking to shine.

The first match currently has the feeling of a regulation six pointer about it even this early in the campaign while the second one should be another extremely technical and entertaining game of football. As ever both the matches are live on TV although one will cost you £15.

West Bromwich Albion vs Burnley (17.30 – Sky Box Office)

The opening half of the double header sees the bottom of the table under the microscope when two sides who have struggled so far this season meet at The Hawthorns when the newcomers West Bromwich Albion host a Burnley team who are the only ones in the league without a point this term.

West Brom have offered plenty going forward this season but they have been a mess at the back and you could label Burnley in the same manner. They go into this match off the back of a 3-1 loss at Newcastle, a result which doesn’t look great whichever angle you approach it from. Neither of these teams have won a game in the league this season so I’m not in the game of predicting who will come out on top here, although you would have expect Sean Dyche will have drilled a defensive discipline to his side during the international break.

I’m going for a bit of a value play in this match and that is for Burnley to score more than 1.5 goals. West Brom have conceded at least two in every game this season and look wide open defensively. They are particularly poor from set-pieces which is an area that Burnley thrive in. Burnley’s struggles so far this season has been down to injured players but with Ashley Barnes back now and Jay Rodriguez expected to be fit as well as that threat from dead balls there is enough in there for the Clarets to bag a couple of goals regardless of the overall outcome.

Leeds United vs Wolverhampton Wanderers (20.00 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)

The pick of the two matches, on paper at least, comes from Elland Road where Leeds United, who have impressed plenty in their opening four games, take on a Wolverhampton Wanderers side who are nearly always good to watch.

Both these teams are very technically proficient so we should be expecting a high quality and very watchable game of football here. Leeds have won two and drawn one of their opening four matches while the visitors also have a pair of wins so there is no strain on them having to fight for anything here which is another reason why we should expect an open and expansive game of football in the attacking areas with plenty of movement to allow the attacks to prosper and the defences to struggle.

We’ve seen high scoring Leeds matches this season and I don’t see that changing too much as we go along because Marcelo Bielsa looks to attack more than he worries about parking buses or anything like that so even though Wolves have a reputation for being tight and being involved in low scoring matches on the road, I think the 2.25 goal line in this one is very low. Wolves have already been beaten 4-0 on their travels this season so maybe they are not as tight as they have been in recent seasons. Even if they are, the numbers Leeds attack in will keep that defence honest. I like over 2.25 goals here.
