Preview

The action begins with a huge clash at the bottom between two sides who don’t win many football matches as Brighton and Hove Albion host Sheffield United. Brighton currently have their heads above water but need to start winning to start there. Sheffield United might already need snookers to escape the drop but a win here shines a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. Tottenham Hotspur will then look to rebound from their defeat at Liverpool in midweek in the second match of the afternoon when head to the former champions Leicester City who also need a win after slipping up against Merseyside opposition in midweek.

In terms of history and intrigue the pick of the matches is the third one of the afternoon when two old rivals clash at Old Trafford as Manchester United look to build on their midweek win when they host a Leeds United team who are also going in search of a second straight victory. The action concludes at The Hawthorns where Sam Allardyce returns to the dugout as he takes charge of West Bromwich Albion for the first time. The Baggies host local rivals Aston Villa.

Betting

My betting activity on Sunday afternoon focuses around the clash at Old Trafford where I am expecting to see plenty of goals when Manchester United take on Leeds United in what should be an extremely entertaining clash. Both teams will get to play the style they like to play here. Leeds United like to be on the front foot and attacking in numbers and in style whereas Manchester United like to invite teams onto them and then pounce on the counterattack. That should lead to a lot of goal action and I’m happy to be on over 3.5 goals here particularly given the defensive absentees Leeds are having to deal with.

I’ll also have a punt on Harry Maguire to score at some point in the contest. Leeds are absolutely horrible at defending set pieces and Maguire is probably the biggest threat in the air to their chances. Clearly the delivery isn’t going to be an issue for United so Maguire is likely to get his head on a fair bit in the opposition box. You can get 7/1 on Maguire to find the back of the net in this match and when you consider in recent weeks Kurt Zouma, Tomas Soucek and Ciaran Clark have all scored from set pieces against Leeds in the last three games that price on Maguire is just too big.
