The Championship weekend began on Friday night but the bulk of the latest round of action takes place on what is another busy Saturday in this congested second tier schedule where lots of teams will be looking for maximum points for differing quests.
Once again as with most Saturday’s in this division the action begins with a televised match and then there are all of the other ways to keep up to date with the remainder of the matches, not least the iFollow streams for each club.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows: (3pm unless stated, UK TV in brackets)
Bristol City v Norwich City (12.30 – Sky Main Event & Sky Football)
Barnsley v Watford
AFC Bournemouth v Derby County
Luton Town v Brentford
Middlesbrough v Nottingham Forest
Millwall v Huddersfield Town
Preston North End v Birmingham City
Queens Park Rangers v Cardiff City
Stoke City v Rotherham United
Swansea City v Blackburn Rovers
Wycombe Wanderers v Sheffield Wednesday

Big Matches
The TV match on Saturday comes from Ashton Gate where one of the early pacesetters Bristol City host a Norwich City side who look to have sorted their form out after a slower start to the season than what would have been expected from them. Elsewhere Bournemouth will be looking to take advantage of the slip up by Reading to move within three points of them at the top. The Cherries host a Derby County side who will have Wayne Rooney back in their ranks for the trip south. At the bottom end of the table the bottom two meet at Adams Park where Wycombe Wanderers host Sheffield Wednesday.
Best of the Rest
Third placed Millwall have a home match on Saturday. They host a Huddersfield Town side who have dropped off their elite form recently. One of the pick of the matches on the day comes from the Liberty Stadium where fourth placed Swansea City host promotion chasing Blackburn Rovers while Watford make the trip to strugglers Barnsley. Nottingham Forest will look to continue their unbeaten start under Chris Hughton when they take on Middlesbrough at the Riverside while Luton Town host Brentford in what should be a pleasing game.
Betting
I’ll go with just the one bet over the course of Saturday afternoon on another card where not a whole lot stands out, partly because the odds are about right and partly because this is the fifth game in 15 days for these teams. The bet I like comes in the match at the Liberty Stadium where Swansea City take on Blackburn Rovers in a match where I’m expecting goals to be scored between two very watchable sides.
The goal line for this match is over 2.5 goals which looks very low for a Blackburn game anyway but especially when they are on the road. Blackburn have played three matches away from Ewood Park this season and they have had five, four and four goals in them. Swansea are no strangers to being involved in some open and high scoring games themselves and two sides who have more attacking intent than defensive outlook can combine for at least three goals here.
