We go into the second half of the third week of the A Night at the Darts event on Thursday night as again five players tough it out in another daily group for our entertainment and to pass another evening of lockdown.
It has to be said this week so far has been the best of any of the home tournaments with fantastic darts, superb matches and a really good standard all round. Hopefully we get more of that over the course of Thursday night.
The Format
Each night from Monday to Saturday five men will battle it out in a round robin group with the overall champion being determined on Saturday May 2. Matches will see the players compete over the best of 9 legs with each of them at home in front of a webcam throwing at their own individual dartboards. Scores can be found on Dart Connect and the tournament will be streamed on the bookmaker live streaming consoles and for free on Dartslive.tv.

Wednesday Recap
In a week of tight groups in the Modus events we had the tightest of the lot on Wednesday night when David Evans had to win his final match of the evening against Martin Adams 5-1 to pip Fallon Sherrock to top spot courtesy of beating her earlier in the night and that is exactly what he did. Sherrock picked up three great wins but couldn’t maintain her leg difference and narrowly lost out. Wessel Nijman also won three of his matches but his leg difference was worse than the other two. Martin Adams registered a solitary win while Kyle McKinstry’s efforts went unrewarded.
That was not good for us as we backed him to beat Fallon Sherrock with a bit in hand and after missing darts at a double to go 3-3 before winning the two legs that followed he went and lost the match so that was one which got away from us. We made a slight profit on the night though as Wessel Nijman’s 12 180s was two too good for the rest of the group with Fallon Sherrock running him close with 10.
Thursday Line Up
After going so close on Wednesday, Fallon Sherrock has her day off on Thursday. She sits out and is replaced by Mike Warburton, who will be hoping that the day off has done his game some good because he hasn’t lived up to expectation thus far it is fair to say. He’ll have his work cut out on Thursday evening too because he will be taking on the main pair of David Evans and Wessel Nijman as well as the competitive duo of Martin Adams and Kyle McKinstry.

Outright Betting
I think we’ve seen enough this week to suggest that this group is going to be between David Evans and Wessel Nijman. I’m not convinced the Dutchman is on his best form at the minute but ultimately the winner of their match could well go four from four on the night. Picking the winner of that isn’t easy though and could be determined by who wins the bull up so I’m reluctant to get too involved in that. The other three in the group don’t look nearly close to their top form.
Instead I would rather back Wessel Nijman on hitting the most 180s on the night. He did just that on Wednesday evening when his 12 maximums were more than enough. His closest challenger was actually Fallon Sherrock who isn’t in action here. He comfortably outscored David Evans’ seven and three from Kyle McKinstry and Martin Adams and Mike Warburton is unlikely to trouble him either. The odds have come in to 5/6 but there’s a better than 5/6 chance he hits the most maximums again. He’s the best scorer in this field by a distance.
Match Betting
I’ll go with a couple on the match betting front on Thursday night as well with the first of those coming in the match between Wessel Nijman and Mike Warburton. I fully expect the Dutchman to win the match and I expect him to hit the most 180s as well. Only once in the eight matches Warburton has played so far this week has he hit more than two 180s and Nijman is averaging a lot more than that so the ‘King of the Oche’ market could come down to the checkout part of proceedings. Given that Warby isn’t expected to win many legs I’ve got to think Nijman can deliver on that front too so the 6/4 on the Dutchman in that market looks decent enough to me.
Slightly later than that I think Martin Adams can see off Kyle McKinstry, as he did on Wednesday night. Missed doubles are beginning to kill McKinstry and really affect his averages as a result. He failed to average over 87.5 in his last three matches on Wednesday and can’t be carrying much confidence after a night where he went winless. Martin Adams didn’t score like he could on Wednesday but I fancy he’ll be better here as he was coming off a day off during the third day’s play. There probably isn’t a lot between them but that doubling is an issue so I’ll take Wolfie for the win there.
