2020 Modus A Night at the Darts – Tuesday 28th April Group 2 Tips and Betting Preview

We move on to night two of the third week of the A Night at the Darts competition put together by the people at Modus Darts on Tuesday and after an excellent start to the week on Monday, there is lots to look forward to throughout the evening.

As has been the case for the last three weeks and more, five players will pit their wits against each from their own homes looking to top the table on the night and put points on the board towards the overall weekly table.

The Format

Each night from Monday to Saturday five men will battle it out in a round robin group with the overall champion being determined on Saturday May 2. Matches will see the players compete over the best of 9 legs with each of them at home in front of a webcam throwing at their own individual dartboards. Scores can be found on Dart Connect and the tournament will be streamed on the bookmaker live streaming consoles and for free on Dartslive.tv.

Monday Recap

It might have been a poor afternoon in the darts but that certainly wasn’t the case in the evening as the standard was high throughout. As with the afternoon though, we had a winner on leg difference as David Evans triumphed from Kyle McKinstry, helped by the fact that he beat him early on in the evening. Mike Warburton started slowly but picked up a couple of late wins and then there was a win apiece for Fallon Sherrock and Martin Adams.

It was a perfect night for us on a betting front as not only did Evans land the 2/1 group punt but Kyle McInstry also saw off Martin Adams later in the evening so we ended with an 8.4pt profit to begin the week with which is a perfect start. We’ll be hoping to build on that nicely over the five nights to come from here.

Tuesday Line Up

The winner of the first two weeks of the tournament, Wessel Nijman, is back in action on Tuesday night and he comes in for the veteran of the group Martin Adams who has the night off. Nijman will attempt to make up ground on his rival David Evans who is also on show on Tuesday evening while Kyle McKinstry, Fallon Sherrock and Mike Warburton make up what looks like a competitive quintet should the first day of action be anything to go by.

Outright Betting

I’m expecting an improvement from Mike Warburton on Tuesday after he admitted on Twitter that it took him a couple of games to feel comfortable with the setup on Monday but whether that is enough to get deeply involved in this group remains to be seen. I’m also expecting much more from Kyle McKinstry and if I was going to take an outright bet then it could come in the form of the Northern Irishman who I’m a big fan of.

This could be one of those nights where everyone beats everyone though and there is a bit of an open feel about proceedings. My concern then would be one or two missed doubles could cost McKinstry like it did on Monday night when he lost out so narrowly. With Wessel Nijman new to the mix this week I’ll sit back and observe how we go rather than push the boat out with a bet I’m not completely keen on.

Match Betting

I will take one in the match betting front though which is for Kyle McKinstry to cover a 1.5 leg handicap against Fallon Sherrock. We saw the longer Monday evening went on that McKinstry’s scoring improved beyond recognition but more importantly his finishing did as well. He beat Sherrock on Monday night but it was only 5-4 but it should have been a whole lot more than that it is fair to say.

I say that because the Northern Irishman missed a boat load of doubles in that match and his scoring wasn’t like it was for the rest of the evening either. He hit just five out of 28 darts at a double against Sherrock and if that ratio was anything like respectable he would have won with a bit more in hand. McKinstry beat Sherrock 6-1 at the UK Open last month which shows the margin he can have in hand against her and I expect him to show that here with a win of no worse than 5-3.

Tips

WON – Back K.McKinstry (-1.5 legs) to beat F.Sherrock for a 3/10 stake at 1.80 with Bet365
