More matches take place in the Vitality Blast on Tuesday evening when both groups continue on their merry way. We are heading towards the business end of the competition now so each match is beginning to take on extra importance.
The ODI has the attention of the TV cameras on Tuesday so anyone who isn’t watching a certain football match will need to switch to the live streams that the counties provide in order to be able to watch these games.
North Group
There is just the one match in the North Group on Tuesday evening and it sees the bottom two in the group clashing at Grace Road when Leicestershire take on Northamptonshire. It would appear that both these sides are playing purely for pride in the remainder of this competition now but whoever wins this one might be able to linger around fourth spot enough to give themselves a feint chance of making the knockout stages in the last week of the group phase.
South Group
It is the South Group where most of the action will take place over the course of the evening. The first of those matches comes from down in Cardiff where a Covid-19 hit Glamorgan will take on Surrey in a match probably bigger for the visitors than the hosts now. The big match of the evening comes from Hove where Sussex welcome Kent with top spot being the reward for the winners should Surrey slip up. The other match sees a Somerset side who were as emphatic as they come against Kent on Monday evening heading to Essex looking to repeat that display.

Betting
I’ll take a couple of bets over the course of the evening with the first of those coming at Leicester where I think Leicestershire can complete the double over a Northamptonshire side who offered some hope of improvement for a couple of matches last week then got taken to the cleaners by Yorkshire over the weekend. Leicestershire also lost their last match but that was against a Worcestershire side who look to have found their groove at long last. I think Leicestershire are the better of these two teams, especially with the ball where they have the leading wicket taker in the competition in Naveed-ul-Haq and two more in double figures for wickets in the tournament. In contrast Northants don’t have a single bowler with 10 wickets or more. Leicestershire have a batting line up in good form whereas Northants just feel a little top heavy and while qualifying is a long shot for Leicestershire this tournament is their main focus whereas the attention for Northants might be heading towards the Championship where they are in a much better position. Leicestershire can win this.
The other bet I like comes from Hove where I’m expecting a high scoring match. We saw the punishment that the Kent bowlers can take in their match against Somerset on Monday night and there isn’t anyone to come into their attack. You don’t get over beatings like that in 24 hours and they face another team in Sussex who are no strangers to plundering an attack around the park. We didn’t really see it on Monday evening but Kent can get after bowling attacks though and this Sussex one may well be without Chris Jordan, Jofra Archer and George Garton while Rashid Khan doesn’t arrive until the weekend and then has to quarantine. That makes me think we might get a high scoring game here so I’ll go with over 331.5 runs.
