Super League XXIII – Easter Monday Matches Betting Preview

The second half of the Super League Easter programme takes place on Monday when all 12 sides take to the field again to battle it out in a set of matches in which stamina and fitness is going to be all the rage.

After the derby matches in the last round on Thursday and Friday we are back to the random nature of the fixtures on Monday. We have two matches live on TV and as ever there are plenty of other ways of keeping up with the other games.

Monday’s fixtures are as follows:

Castleford Tigers vs Warrington Wolves (13.30)

Hull FC vs Wakefield Trinity (15.00)

Leeds Rhinos vs Salford Red Devils (15.00)

Wigan Warriors vs Hull KR (15.00)

Widnes Vikings vs St Helens (15.05)

Catalans Dragons vs Huddersfield Giants (17.15)

Big Matches

The two TV matches are the last two listed there. The first one sees the leaders St Helens making the short trip to take on a Widnes Vikings side who will be keen to prove their worth and once they are done the woeful Catalans Dragons take on the Huddersfield Giants who will be aiming to build on their draw against Leeds on Friday.

Best of the Rest

There should be an entertaining match at The Jungle when the Castleford Tigers take on the Warrington Wolves while Hull FC will hope to build on their win in the derby on Friday when they host Wakefield Trinity. Leeds will have been disappointed to drop a point on Friday so they will be out to make up for that when they entertain Salford Red Devils and Wigan Warriors will look to put their derby defeat behind them when Hull KR visit the DW Stadium.

Betting

I’m never one to get too heavily involved in the second set of Easter matches and I am going to stick to that principle here and go with just the one bet where I think one of the sides will have a distinct advantage.

That side is Wakefield Trinity who played their Easter match on Thursday night so they had an extra 18hrs or so recovery time on Hull FC which could be significant. Another thing that might be significant is the fact that Hull FC played more than 70 minutes with a man light after an early sending off and given that match was played in an intense derby atmosphere in a game where neither was prepared to give the other an inch I’ve got to think there could be some heavy legs in the Hull ranks. Wakefield’s advantage is there for all to see and so the 10pts they get given should be plenty for them to come out on top in the handicap market.

Tips

WON – Back Wakefield Trinity (+10) to beat Hull FC for a 4/10 stake at 2.00 with Betfred
