The final two midweek matches in the MLS this week come along on Wednesday night when four more sides look to enhance their position in the standings ahead of the final push in the regular season.
Unfortunately neither of these matches are on TV so we are reduced to the live streams for both games in what looks like it could be a key evening in the Western Conference in particular.
DC United vs Portland Timbers (01.00)
The first match of the night comes Audi Field as DC United take on Portland Timbers in a battle of the form sides. Since they returned to their new home, DC United have been playing some good football while Portland are one of the hardest sides in MLS to beat so this is intriguing.
DC have won four of their last five matches while Portland saw a run of 15 matches without defeat ended at the weekend and will be looking to start another run here. DC are so far behind in terms of matches that it will be really tough for them to keep the same side playing in each one so they are going to need to pick their battles wisely. This is one match that might not mean much to them given that it is against a Western Conference side. They should see the game against New England at the weekend as much more important so I wouldn’t be surprised if Ben Olsen rests a few here.
That could make Portland value but their three wins on the road have been at Seattle, Colorado and San Jose who prior to this run that Seattle are putting together have been the three worst sides in the Conference by some distance so I can’t say I’m massively appealed by their chances either. That makes it a no bet game for me.

Los Angeles FC vs Real Salt Lake (03.00)
The second match of the night is an all-Western Conference clash as Los Angeles FC host Real Salt Lake in a battle between two sides who occupy the final two places in the top six and who could really do with a win to consolidate their position.
When these two met at Rio Tinto earlier in the season it was Los Angeles FC who ran out emphatic 5-1 winners and they would love a repeat here. They might well get it too because while Real Salt Lake have the best home record in the West they are the second worst away from home with just five points and eight goals in 11 matches.
Los Angeles have had a tough few weeks including that amazing defeat to Houston in the US Open Cup last week. That has seen them fall away from the leading contenders in the table but they have an ideal chance of a victory here and I expect them to take it. Real Salt Lake haven’t won away since May. I don’t see them winning here either.
