2019 ATP Miami Open Tennis – Day 1 Betting Preview

The opening day of the ATP Miami Open sees the qualifying for the main draw conclude and the first round of the tournament get underway on what is actually a busy day of tennis at the second Masters 1000 event of the year.

The very biggest names in the game don’t come into the tournament until the weekend so we have a bit of a wait for that, but there enough fading forces to keep us entertained up and down the courts on Wednesday.

New customers, bet €/£20 on the Exchange and if your first bet loses, we’ll refund you €/£20 in Cash. Bet must be placed in first 7 days of account opening. T&Cs apply. 18+|Gamble Aware. Perfect for the week’s sport!

Stadium Court

The action on the stadium court begins with a tasty looking women’s match but once that has concluded the first round men’s match between Janko Tipsarevic, in here on a protected ranking, and Bradley Klahn. They are followed by the match of the opening day as the enigmatic Bernard Tomic takes on the Czech ace Tomas Berdych. The night session begins with a women’s match and then it is a men’s game to conclude the day’s play. That sees Maximilian Marterer going up against Taylor Fritz.

Grandstand

Men’s action gets things underway on the secondary court with Peter Gojowczyk and Federico Delbonis doing battle and then after three matches to round off the day session there is one match in the evening. It sees Jeremy Chardy up against the talented Chilean player Nicolas Jarry, in what is the final men’s match on this court on Wednesday.

Court 1

It is qualifying action to begin with on Court 1 when Felix Auger-Aliassime takes on Paolo Lorenzi for a place in the main draw. A juicy match between Pablo Cuevas and the wildcard Jo-Wilfried Tsonga follows then before it is back into the first round action as Roberto Carballes Baena goes up against Denis Kudla. Matteo Berrettini plays Hubert Jurkacz in the penultimate match of the day on this court with Nicola Kuhn meeting Mischa Zverev to close out the day’s action.

Best of the Rest

There are plenty of men’s matches dotted round the vast grounds out in Hard Rock Stadium and surrounding areas. Albert Ramos-Vinolas is in action on the Butch Buchholz court while Court 6 has the qualifying clash between Reilly Opelka and Marcel Granollers. Lukas Lacko and Denis Istomin are two other men in action elsewhere as are British star Dan Evans, Andrey Rublev and another Brit in Jay Clarke.

Betting

It is a long tournament is this one and I’m going to begin it with just the one bet which comes in the first round match between Matteo Berrettini and Hubert Hurkacz where I’m going against the odds compilers and siding with the money on the quarter finalists from Indian Wells just last week. I’m with the Polish player.

I respect Berrettini for his win at Challenger level last week but the main tour form is very much with the Pole. Hurkacz didn’t just make the quarter final last week, he beat some very good opponents to get there and with the confidence he should have got from that I think he wins this. Had it not been for a couple of defeats to Stefanos Tsitsipas, Hurkacz would be having an even better season. Nevertheless he can get his Miami campaign off to a winning start here.

Tips

WON – Back H.Hurkacz to beat M.Berrettini for a 4/10 stake at 2.00 with William Hill
