2019 Vitality Blast – Tuesday 27th August Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The Vitality Blast continues on Tuesday evening and with just four nights left in the group stage of the competition the excitement, nerves and drama is set to intensify as we sort out the quarter final line up in the tournament.

We have one match from both groups on Tuesday with the TV game coming from the North Group while the South Group match offers up a live stream so there is no reason not to enjoy both of them simultaneously.

Durham vs Birmingham Bears

The televised game was an interesting pick as at no stage really did this one look like the standout fixture of the two and as it is when Durham host the Birmingham Bears both sides will largely be playing out a dead rubber.

Birmingham Bears certainly can’t qualify while Durham need to win their last two matches by big margins and hope that Worcestershire look theirs by equally as big margins in order to have any chance of progressing. I was going to take Warwickshire here as they are able to play with a bit more freedom but the injury to Adam Hose takes out a sizeable chunk of their batting so I’m no longer interested in that. I was bitten by Durham’s inability to cope with the pressure of getting over the line the other night and I’m in no rush to go through that again so I’ll sit the TV match out for once.

Surrey vs Somerset

The South Group match has much more riding on it, for the visitors at least, as Surrey host Somerset. Surrey have been the flops of the tournament and even this early in the piece they can’t make the quarter finals. Somerset will all but secure their last four berth should they come out on top here.

These two sides have already met in this competition this season when Surrey’s 203 wasn’t enough at Taunton and I’m expecting another high scoring match here I have to say. Somerset have only failed to score 170 twice in the competition but the fact that they have lost five matches shows that their bowlers haven’t been as tight as they would have liked them to be.

That makes me think that we are going to get more than 324.5 runs in this one. Somerset are batting very nicely at the minute while Surrey have Aaron Finch, Ollie Pope and Sam Curran in good form and a number of other players who are capable of delivering the goods too. It is another scorching day in London so the outfield is going to be lightning. I’m expecting a tough night for the bowlers here.
