Another week of Icons of Darts action comes to a close on Saturday when the second pool of players grace the stream and their home oches for the third and final time, with the aim of keeping us entertained and keeping their competitive juices flowing.
We’ve had a decent week of darts so far and on the face of it there is no reason why that is not going to continue on Saturday as six men compete for the third time. Everything is set up for another entertaining day of arrers.
The Format
Each day from Monday to Saturday six players will battle it out for a daily title. There are two pools of players, one which plays on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and the other which toe the oche on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Each day the six players will play each other once over the best of nine legs with two points for a win. The daily winner is the player with the most points. If players are level on points it is determined on leg difference and then the record between the two. The entire event can be watched on various bookmaker websites, dartshop.tv or the Modus YouTube channel.

Friday Recap
It always promised to be an exciting day on Friday and it didn’t disappoint in that regard. It was a day that went down to the final match where two men took their undefeated records into it to battle it out for the group title. Those two were Keane Barry and Martin Adams and it was the youngster who came out on top to win the group in fine style. Ritchie Edhouse ended his week with three wins while Andy Jenkins achieved a couple of wins. There was one win for Jarred Cole but Fallon Sherrock ended her week empty handed.
Jarred Cole might only have won one match on Friday but luckily for us it was the match we wanted him to win as he saw off Fallon Sherrock with a good bit in hand. We mentioned in our Friday preview that it didn’t make too much sense that his price to win that match had gone up even though he had won both their meetings this week. That is how it proved to be as well.
Saturday Line Up
All eyes will be on Keane Barry to see if he can back up his effort from Friday when he competes again on Saturday. Barry has won all but two matches so far this week and those two he went down in deciding legs on Thursday. There is a case to be made that he should be the favourite to win this group but that honour actually falls to the former world champion Scott Mitchell, who should be more comfortable in the conditions than he was on Thursday.
Another former world champion Mark Webster will be looking to get back to winning ways on Saturday while his fellow Welshman, Mike Warburton, will be out to make a successful defence of the title he won on Thursday. Paul Nicholson has mentioned on Twitter that this is to be his final outing for a while because a lingering injury is causing him too much pain, while the group is completed by Stephen Burton.

Outright Betting
I’m very surprised that Keane Barry isn’t the favourite for this group. I took him to win it on Thursday and only a couple of deciding leg defeats denied him, and even then had Warburton not come back from 4-0 down in one of his matches, the Irishman would still have won the group. I get that Scott Mitchell is a high quality player with a fully deserved lofty reputation, but Keane Barry won all five matches in a tougher looking group on paper on Friday so I don’t get him not being the favourite here.
I’m going to take Keane Barry to win the group but I think rather than backing him on the group outright I’m going to take the 13/2 that he wins all five of his matches. He was only a couple of legs away from doing that in this section on Thursday and he did exactly that on Friday. When you think it is unlikely anyone is going to win the group with three wins he is going to need four wins to win the group yet he is 2.5 times the price to win one more match. Scott Mitchell is the biggest danger but Barry beat him on Thursday. I think there’s a good chance if the youngster wins the group he does it with another clean sweep.
Match Betting
I’ll go with one in the match betting as well. Stephen Burton did for me on Thursday but he isn’t going to lose from 4-0 up many times so I’m prepared to think that was a freak and I’ll go with him again. I’m changing the man I’m taking him to beat though as this time I’m backing him to see off Paul Nicholson who only has two wins from 10 matches to his name this week so far, and highlighted why on his Twitter feed on Thursday.
They say beware of the injured sportsman but when that injury is causing pain you don’t usually get much from that player and I don’t expect much from Nicholson here. For one reason or another, Burton has a very good record against ‘The Asset’. These two have met five times in the Icons of Darts. Burton has won four of them and the one he lost he was a ridiculous 3/20 on his doubles. Missed doubles are a concern with Burton but Nicholson has been very poor on them himself this week, with combined checkout rates of 15/54 and 15/45. I think Burton should be a little shorter than he is here so he’s my match bet for the day.
