2020-21 Premier League – Saturday 31st October Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The Premier League weekend continues on Saturday but with just the three matches as opposed to the four we have become used to in recent times as the competition continues to head towards the next international break.

As has been the case since the restart all three matches are live on TV and with three of the big six in action it is a day where big steps can be made at the top end of the table but also at the bottom with the focus also in that area too.

Sheffield United vs Manchester City (12.30 – BT Sport 1)

The opening match of the afternoon sees Sheffield United going in search of their first win of the season when they take on the pre-season title favourites Manchester City in a match which feels like a bottom vs top one even though City are as low as 13th going into the game.

Clearly that is a false position and they will be widely expected to come up with the goods here and push themselves up the table but a lot of people thought that would happen at West Ham last week when they could only draw a match they were heavy favourites to win. Sheffield United only have one point from six matches this season and anyone who read my outright preview will know that doesn’t surprise me as I expected them to struggle. That point came against Fulham which isn’t the greatest form guide either.

Unlike West Ham, Sheffield United don’t score enough goals to concern Manchester City and they are nothing like as tight at the back as they were last season which makes me think Pep Guardiola’s men can pick up a much needed win here. It is hard to see them running up the score though with Champions League in midweek off the back of that competition in the last two midweeks. That makes me think City to win and under 4.5 goals will do the job here.

Burnley vs Chelsea (15.00 – BT Sport Box Office)

The second match of the afternoon comes from Turf Moor where Burnley will look for their first win of the campaign when they host a Chelsea team who will be looking to build on a four game unbeaten stretch which has seen them move into the top half of the table.

Burnley have picked up just the one point from five outings this term, which came against West Brom which barely counts so they’ll be looking for their first maximum of the campaign. Chelsea haven’t always been convincing, especially defensively, but in the main they have got the job done. They were away in Europe in midweek though so it will be interesting to see how they back that up here. Neither of these sides really convince me in truth so I’m happy enough to leave this one alone.

Liverpool vs West Ham United (17.30 – Sky Main Event & Sky Premier League)

The final match of the triple header on the day sees the champions Liverpool back in action when they entertain a West Ham United side who have picked up some decent results in recent times and who might fancy their chances of an upset here.

That is because Liverpool are riddled with key injuries at the minute, particularly in their back line and you would imagine plenty of teams will think they can get something out of the champions for the foreseeable future. Liverpool should still have plenty of goals in them but they are likely to concede a decent number as well. I would have looked to get involved in this game either from a West Ham handicap or over goals point of view but the injury to Hammers forward Michail Antonio is enough of a concern to put me off. I’ll leave this one alone.
