NFL 2020 Playoffs – Los Angeles Rams @ Seattle Seahawks Tips and Betting Preview

The second part of the Super Wildcard Saturday triple header could well prove to be the pick of the three matches as the Seattle Seahawks host the Los Angeles Rams in an all-NFC West showdown with a trip to the New Orleans Saints potentially the reward for the winners.

The Seahawks came out on top in the NFC West this season with the two sides sharing their two meetings in the regular campaign. The Rams will be hoping that they can take the trilogy match and move a step closer to a return to the Super Bowl.

Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks ended up powering their way to the NFC West title courtesy of winning their last four matches in the regular season. They combined a decent offense with a pretty tight defence with the only team who really challenged them in that period being the San Francisco 49ers. We know that the Seahawks know what it takes to go all the way to the Super Bowl and they will be out to make the first step on that here.

The concern over the Seahawks is that their offense can become a little one-dimensional and struggle if Russell Wilson has a bad day. The upside of that is that the elite trigger man rarely has a bad day. The good thing is if the offense does struggle they do have a defence which can get them out of trouble, and you would think that Seattle will need their defence to stand up here because the opposing one is extremely likely to.

Los Angeles Rams

A couple of late season losses denied the Los Angeles Rams a better shot at the NFC West title but they came good again last week to ensure that they go into the postseason with a win under their belts. It wasn’t too long ago they were competing in the Super Bowl so we know they can go the course and distance and if you look down their roster there is a case to be made that they are actually a better team now than they were then.

Much is made of the Los Angeles offense and it is probably fair that is the case because there is a lot of talent on that side of the ball but they don’t always live up to the expectation or billing. If Jared Goff can manage the game well though then the Rams are going to have every chance here because man for man they have the best defence in the league, one which always seems to muscle up and bring the fight into this compelling rivalry.

Betting

The points line for this match isn’t overly high at 42.5 but I do think it is too high for this match given what is at stake and what is on the line. It isn’t going to take a whole lot for this one to turn into a defensive battle with both sides able to muscle up and bring it in that department and both sides having an offense which has a bit of a one-dimensional look to it and that can get stuck without too much being done to it.

These two sides met twice in the regular season with the totals ending up at 39 and 29 and when you factor that seasons are on the line here it is hard to see too many more points behind scored in this one. Neither team are going to give the other an inch here so this is likely to be one of those matches where points are few and far between and which could come down to a field goal here or there. Whoever wins it I expect a low scoring clash here.
