Super League XXVI – Sunday 8th August Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

Another round of matches in the Super League comes to an end on Sunday when two of the three scheduled fixtures will take place with the other cancelled due to the threat that Covid-19 is continue to have on the campaign.

One of these two matches is live on the TV for us to enjoy on what should be an entertaining Sunday evening while the other will be covered across social media updates and even radio commentaries and things like that.

Huddersfield Giants vs Wakefield Trinity (15.00)

The opening match is the one which isn’t in front of the TV cameras as the Huddersfield Giants play host to the Wakefield Trinity in a Yorkshire derby which shouldn’t lack for intensity given that neither side are having the campaign they would like and therefore could do with a win.

Both sides sit in the bottom four of the table and will need to sprout wings and fly over the remainder of the season if they are to be involved in the play-offs. In reality it is all about building for next year and those aren’t really the sort of matches I like betting on. Both these teams have had injury and Covid-19 issues over the last month or so which brings a further unpredictable edge to it so I’m happy enough to leave this one alone.

Leigh Centurions vs Hull KR (18.30 – Sky Sports Arena)

The televised action concludes the weekend when rock bottom Leigh Centurions host a Hull KR side who have made great strides this term and who have the opportunity to showcase that in front of the cameras once again.

It was a hugely controversial decision to give Leigh Centurions the final license for the Super League this term and to date they have done nothing to justify it. They have played 14 matches and lost the lot, are the lowest scorers in the competition and even though only Hull KR have played fewer matches than them, the Centurions have let in the most points in the competition by some 137 points which is a crazy statistic. They are averaging a shade under 40 points against them per match this season and I fully expect a decent Hull KR side to take full advantage of that. Hull KR sit in the top six going into this match so they know this is a must win match for them if they are to make the play-offs. They have lost their last two matches but they were both to the Catalans Dragons and they were competitive in both. This looks a much easier task and when you consider they put up 30 and 16 points in defeat to the Dragons they should pile on the points here and cover a 10 point handicap with a lot to spare.

Tips

Back Hull KR (-10) to beat Leigh Centurions for a 3/10 stake at 1.91 with Bet365
