Sky Bet Championship 2021-22 – Sunday 8th August Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The opening weekend in the Sky Bet Championship concludes on Sunday afternoon when the remaining two matches are played out as the four sides yet to get their season underway get the chance to do so.

With the Premier League yet to begin both these matches are live on TV throughout the course of the afternoon with Sky Sports Football the channel to watch them on. With the weather not great there’s no reason not to sit back and watch both matches!

Fulham vs Middlesbrough (13.30)

The opening match of the afternoon comes from Craven Cottage where Fulham will look to bounce back from relegation out of the Premier League when they entertain Middlesbrough in a match which sees two promotion candidates going at it.

All eyes will be on Fulham in this match, not just because they are playing in their first match since relegation but also because it is the start of the Marco Silva era. He has threatened more than he has delivered in his time in English football so it will be interesting to see how Fulham fare under him. Middlesbrough will be competitive. That is the one thing that is guaranteed from a Neil Warnock side but how much quality they have remains to be seen. There are a few too many doubts on either side for me to get involved in this one.

Coventry City vs Nottingham Forest (16.30)

The second match of the day and the final one of the weekend is a big one for Coventry City as they return home after a couple of seasons lodging at Birmingham. They take on midlands rivals Nottingham Forest in a tasty last clash of the opening round of matches.

Coventry are a very good side to watch who carry plenty of goal threat while Forest have to be a lot better than they were last season which should make for an entertaining match and one which may well carry a lot of goal action. The Sky Blues were a little underrated in the ante-post markets because they have some really good players. The same can be said of Forest in terms of the quality in their ranks so I’m expecting to see some really good football here. With leading lights in front of goal such as Lewis Grabban and Matt Godden on show and a decent support cast I like both teams to score here.

Tips

Back Coventry vs Nottingham Forest – Both teams to score for a 3/10 stake at 2.05 with William Hill
