Premier League 2024-25 – Saturday 26th October Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The Premier League weekend continues on Saturday when five more matches take place on a day where we get to see the champions in action as the top flight heads towards the end of the opening quarter of the campaign.

There is no early match on Saturday for once so we are left with just the one TV game in enjoy over the course of the day. That comes after the other four matches where updates can be found in all the usual places.

3pm Matches

This is the stage of the day where the champions Manchester City will look to move back to the top of the Premier League table for 24 hours or so at least. They welcome the struggling Southampton to the Etihad Stadium for what looks like a great chance to be a home win. The other leading side on show in the opening part of the day is Aston Villa. They will be looking to back up their win in the Champions League in midweek when they welcome AFC Bournemouth to Villa Park.

Two other matches take place in the traditional time slot with one of them coming from the Amex Stadium where Brighton and Hove Albion will look to build on their fifth place standing when rock bottom Wolverhampton Wanderers are the visitors. Wolves are in desperate need of a win but the fixtures are about to level out for them. Ipswich Town are still looking for a first win back in the Premier League and they head to the capital to take on Brentford in the other match.

Late Game

We head to Goodison Park to round off Saturday where Everton will go in search of a third win in four matches to move them further clear of the danger zone. A very impressive Fulham side who are in the top half of the table are the visitors to this part of Merseyside for a match which both will probably believe that they can win. Everton will look to impose their physical style on Fulham while the visitors have the better football in their ranks but they can mix it too which makes this an interesting tie.

Betting

There isn’t a huge amount that I like in the Premier League on Saturday, largely I think the better bets on the card come along on Sunday, but I can’t ignore the 4/5 on Manchester City to beat Southampton and there to be more than 3.5 goals. This has all the hallmarks of an absolute bloodbath for Southampton it has to be said. They have conceded three goals in five of their last six matches and now they run into the best striker in the world game.

City have an insanely good record at home to newly promoted sides recently. They only beat Sheffield United 2-0 here last season but that was in the week they came back from the Club World Cup but they followed that up with a 3-1 win over Burnley and a 5-1 demolition of Luton and already this term Ipswich have been dispatched 4-1. The last time Southampton were in the Premier League, City scored four in each game against them and already this term this bet would have covered not just in the Ipswich game but also away to West Ham, at home to Fulham and in the last two Champions League wins. Of the last 25 wins that City have had at the Etihad in all competitions, 15 of them have paid out on this bet and with Southampton having shipped 16 goals in their last six, but to be fair have scored in all of them apart from Manchester United at home where they missed a penalty, I would be surprised if City don’t cover this on their own in winning the game but Saints have scored in five of their last six and the champions haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last seven in the Premier League so a 3-1 scoreline is in the game if we need it.
