Preview
The action begins in Group B where the first match of the day sees two Liverpool stars going against each other when Sadio Mane and his Senegal side take on Naby Keita and his Guinea team. Both sides won their opening match so whoever wins that will be through to the knockout stages with a match to spare. Once they are done two sides will take to the pitch looking to restore their chances of going through to the next stage when Malawi take on a Zimbabwe side who will feel unfortunate to fall to a late defeat to Senegal in the first set of games.
The other group on show on Friday is Group C and this is a section where Morocco put a marker down in the opening game of the event when they took care of a Ghana side who might be a little overrated in this event. Morocco play in the first game in this group against the minnows Comoros who gave a good account of themselves in defeat in their opening game. The final match of a busy day sees Gabon taking on Ghana in a match the Black Stars can’t afford to lose if they want to have a chance of qualifying in the top two from this group.
Betting
This looks a competitive day to me but one side who might be overpriced on the first set of games are Zimbabwe. They went down to Senegal but they only did so with a very late penalty in pretty extreme conditions and they should enjoy themselves much more in the slightly cooler air of the middle kick off time. Malawi also only went down by the odd goal to Guinea but only the players within the Guinea side will know how they only scored one goal in that game.
There were signs that Zimbabwe could do some damage in their attacking play against Senegal. Understandably they didn’t want to commit too many men forward but they still created chances to score and they should have a lot more to go at in what should be a more open midfield where their powerful ball carriers can get forward and help the attacking players. Malawi are here for the first time and look to still be finding their feet. I think if there is a winner in this one it will be Zimbabwe.
