The second round of the ATP Miami Open comes to a close on Saturday when the top half of the draw plays down to the final 32 on a day of tennis which looks like it is set to match the high heat and humidity at the Hard Rock Stadium.
We saw some big names disappear as they made their entrance into the tournament on Friday which is likely to keep the seeded players on their toes throughout the course of the action on Saturday.
Stadium
There are only two matches on the Stadium court on Saturday with it being the first day in the women’s draw that the seeded players can face each other. We start with one of the men’s matches and it is the tie of the second round as the number one seed Daniil Medvedev takes on the former world number one Andy Murray. Two women’s matches follow those so it won’t be until the night session when we see the men on this court once again. When we do Stefanos Tsitsipas makes his Miami bow when he takes on the home qualifier J.J Wolf.
Grandstand
The action on the Grandstand court begins with a women’s match but then three men’s games follow it one after the other with the first of them seeing Hubert Hurkacz beginning his title defence. He meets Arthur Rinderknech before two good youngsters take to the court when Miomir Kecmanovic meets the Rotterdam champion Felix Auger-Aliassime. The third and final men’s match over on Grandstand is scheduled to see the Indian Wells champion Taylor Fritz taking on Mikhail Kukushkin but it hasn’t yet been confirmed that the American is fit to play so that could quickly change.

Best of the Rest
If you have a ticket to the Butch Buchholz court you’ll see some exciting tennis with Denis Shapovalov and the Indian Wells semi-finalist Carlos Alcaraz both in action in that part of the grounds. The British number two Dan Evans is out on Court 1 along with Karen Khachanov and Nikoloz Basilashvili, the latter having a clash with the improving American player Jenson Brooksby to overcome. Marin Cilic and Roberto Bautista Agut are two of the other seeded men who will be on show across the course of the day.
Betting
I’ll take the one bet over the course of Saturday and it comes over on the Grandstand court when two form men meet as the Indian Wells quarter finalist Miomir Kecmanovic takes on the Rotterdam champion Felix Auger-Aliassime for a place in the third round. FAA has started 2022 in blinding form but he was found wanting in his Indian Wells opener last week and could be a little vulnerable against Kecmanovic, who should be brimming with confidence after a good run in Indian Wells last week.
Kecmanovic took down big servers in Marin Cilic and Matteo Berrettini last week so he’ll fancy his chances against the delivery of the Canadian. To further back that up the Serbian has already seen off Jack Sock this week so he is enjoying himself against the bigger servers at the minute. It might be that the week off has given Auger-Aliassime time to take stock and revaluate where he is and he could well win this one but I expect the young Serbian to run him very close.
