ATP Miami Open Tennis 2022 – Day 7 Tips and Betting Preview

Tuesday is last 16 day at the ATP Miami Open as all eight matches take place on the two main courts at the Hard Rock Stadium on the first day of the tournament where both halves of the draw compete as one.

Although we saw some surprise results in the early stages of the event, the big guns have generally come through well since then and we have some juicy matches to look forward to on the card on Tuesday as a result.

Stadium

Three of the eight matches on Tuesday take place on the main Stadium court on Tuesday and it is the men who get the action underway. The first match sees the Olympic champion Alexander Zverev take to the court to face the Australian qualifier Thanasi Kokkinakis. When they are done we see one of the pick of the matches in the draw as the number one seed Daniil Medvedev takes on the promising American player Jenson Brooksby. We have to wait until the final match of the day for the last of the men’s matches on the Stadium court. That sees the Indian Wells champion Taylor Fritz taking on the man he beat in the quarter final of that event in Miomir Kecmanovic.

Grandstand

It is men’s matches all the way over on the Grandstand court with the remaining five matches all coming from that part of the grounds. The opening game on the Grandstand should be a good game as Casper Ruud takes on Cameron Norrie with both men flirting with or having a top 10 ranking. When they are done we have Nick Kyrgios against Jannik Sinner to look forward to in a match which promises plenty of fireworks. There is one American on this court on Tuesday and that sees Frances Tiafoe meeting Francisco Cerundolo before Lloyd Harris takes on the defending champion Hubert Hurkacz. The final match of the day promises a huge amount as Stefanos Tsitsipas takes on the new kid on the block in Carlos Alcaraz.

Betting

I’ll take a couple of bets over the course of these last 16 matches with both of them actually coming in the evening session. The first comes in the form of Stefanos Tsitsipas to beat Carlos Alcaraz over on the Grandstand court. I think the price on the Greek is big here. I’m not for one minute suggesting that he is a certainly and there is no doubt that Alcaraz is the real deal but quotes of 13/8 on Tsitsipas is just too big, particularly after he was flawless in his win over Alex de Minaur on Monday evening. That was as good as I’ve seen Tsitsipas play this year which suggests he is over all the elbow issues he had at the start of it. Alcaraz is a big time player but in his run to the Indian Wells semi-final he never beat anyone in the top 10 in the rankings. In fact, the Spaniard is only 1-2 in his three matches against top 10 players this season and Tsitsipas is very much one of those. Alcaraz did win their previous meeting in the US Open last season where conditions were much faster than they are here but even then that match went to a deciding set tiebreak. If this one is going to be that close I’m happy to be on Tsitsipas at the prices but I fancy the Greek god might win this a shade easier than that.

The other bet I like is one I took in Indian Wells last week which is over 22.5 games in the match between Taylor Fritz and Miomir Kecmanovic. That went to a third set and I wouldn’t be surprised if this one does too. Both these men look in great form. They both saw off awkward opponents without too much fuss on Monday and so we should be well set for a cracking contest here. Last week in Indian Wells the match between these two contained 29 games and that included a 6-1 final set. Both have shown no signs of slowing down since then so I’m fully expecting another lengthy contest between two players who should enjoy the conditions.
