The upcoming Premier League weekend is spread over three days of action which begins with seven matches from the top flight on Saturday.
The headline match of the weekend gets us underway on Saturday when champions Chelsea host Liverpool in the lunchtime kick off at Stamford Bridge.
The rest of the day’s games all kick off at 3pm where Crystal Palace host Man Utd at Selhurst Park, Man City face Norwich at the Etihad, Newcastle play Stoke at St James’, Swansea meet Arsenal at the Liberty Stadium, Watford host high flying West Ham at Vicarage Road and West Brom welcome Leicester to The Hawthorns.
I’m not really sure where to begin with the big match. Chelsea’s poor trot is showing no genuine signs of ending and they went to penalties in midweek without making too many changes. That said Liverpool are hardly pulling up any trees at the minute so while I would expect Chelsea to win I’m not confident enough to back them especially without Diego Costa.
In truth there isn’t a whole lot I like in this division. It is fair to say I’ve been pretty poor in this division so far this season and haven’t found much in the way of consistency at all so I’m going to tighten the ship a little bit and just take things I’m very confident in while I form a better strategy.
West Ham are in good touch at the minute and are the best away side in the league so I nearly took them to win at Watford but I was bitten last week when I took the Hornets on and that makes me nervous about taking them on again. In the end I’ve decided to take one which looks a solid punt.
Man City have made a habit of destroying the weaker sides in the Premier League at home under Manuel Pellegrini and I fully expect them to do that against Norwich on Saturday.
We saw in Norwich’s last away match how Newcastle tore them a new backside and if a low on confidence at the time Newcastle can do that a rampant City could run riot here. Norwich might have to fight fire with fire but even that isn’t likely to serve much purpose as Bournemouth and indeed Newcastle found out at the Etihad recently.
I just don’t see any way that Norwich contain this powerful City attacking unit even without Aguero in it and I fully expect the home side to win this by at least a couple of goals.
