There are two remaining matches in the Premier League on Sunday and the main one is the heavyweight televised clash between Man Utd and Arsenal at Old Trafford. Away from the cameras Tottenham play Swansea in what is a big day at the top of the table.
Leicester’s win over Norwich on Saturday has piled the pressure down on the London duo, neither of whom can afford to slip up at this point else chasing Leicester from five points behind starts to become a tricky looking prospect.
Man Utd go into this match off the back of a morale boosting couple of wins in cup matches. They eased past an outclassed Shrewsbury in the FA Cup and then walloped the Danish side in the Europa League on Thursday night but even despite that rarely do they look convincing especially on their own patch.
Arsenal were given a bit of a going over by Barcelona in midweek but they held the Spanish giants at bay for well over an hour which would encourage them and shows they have something about them defensively. Their task is to impose themselves in attack here.
Man Utd are assessing the fitness of Anthony Martial ahead of this match and they will be really short of attacking options if he isn’t able to play. Arsenal don’t have that problem. With Danny Welbeck back their attacking unit is fully available.
When these two met at the Emirates earlier in the season Arsenal were out of sight in no time and a similar start from them here could have United under pressure. It is hard to see United winning if they concede the first goal and Arsenal’s defensive record suggests that could well be the outcome so I’m siding with the Gunners here.
I’m expecting Spurs to push Leicester close in the Premier League this season but if there is a game they might slip up in it could be Sunday’s one against Swansea. Spurs played Fiorentina in midweek which is never easy neither is backing it up so that could leave them vulnerable.
Swansea have the ability to defend deep and soak up Tottenham’s pressure and also to be dangerous on the counter so if there is a game that has a trappy feel to it then it is this one so I’m going to leave this game alone and focus on Arsenal on Sunday.
