The remainder of the Premier League fixtures in this midweek round of matches takes place on Wednesday with seven games for us to enjoy including a heavyweight TV game which rolls back the years.
That TV game sees Liverpool hosting Arsenal in a battle for the European places while in the other matches Stoke play Norwich, Man City host Everton, Tottenham take on Leicester for the second time in three days, Southampton welcome Watford to St Mary’s, Chelsea go up against West Brom at the Bridge and Sunderland head to Wales to face Swansea.
In terms of the TV game there isn’t a lot I fancy. Arsenal just look a little short to me while Liverpool’s defensive problems put me off them so I’ll leave that alone. In fact I’m leaving most of the games alone here with the exception of two. Of the others I like Chelsea to win but West Brom cover a lot of handicaps, Swansea are a little short against Sunderland and I expect Man City to win but it is the sort of game Everton can be dangerous in.
We saw Tottenham and Leicester make a number of changes for their cup-tie on Sunday and we saw an entertaining game despite that. I see no reason why this one won’t be entertaining either. Both sides like to attack and bomb the full backs on in keeping with the modern game but both can be frail defensively.
The likes of Newcastle and Watford have got the better of this Spurs defence recently and Leicester are generally free scoring. While the Foxes usually score they don’t keep many clean sheets which is a concern so I like the 5/6 on both teams to score in this game.
The other side I like on Wednesday are Stoke. I’ve mentioned before how they have a front three to rival plenty in the division and I’m expecting them to get the better of an average Norwich defence.
You don’t get much joy from Stoke these days with their miserly defence especially at the Britannia Stadium so this is a tough night’s work for the Canaries and one which I fancy could be beyond them particularly if Stoke get the first goal.
