The Brisbane Heat have been one of the most entertaining sides to watch in the Big Bash League in previous seasons but there hasn’t been a huge amount of success to show for their talents and excitement. They have put together a formidable looking squad for this season though and you get the feeling anything short of the title will be an underachievement.

There is no doubt about where the strength lies in this Brisbane Heat side. They have plenty of runs at their disposal in what is arguably the strongest batting line up in the entire competition. Each of their top five can win matches on their own which makes them a pretty fearsome unit.
The weakness comes with the ball although whether that weakness is actually as strong as it is made out is open to debate. They play on the best batting wicket in the country which makes bowling tough. When they go away they tend to fare pretty well. The Pakistan leg spin duo should tighten up their bowling significantly.

Betting
In the Brisbane Heat batting line up you would think their season run scoring is going to be a two horse race between Brendon McCullum and Chris Lynn and I am going to side with the captain McCullum at the slightly bigger price.
It isn’t just the price which makes him appeal more. I think he is more reliable in terms of the matches he will play too. Chris Lynn’s shoulder issue is well documented and with the Heat matches coming thick and fast in the opening month of the campaign I could see him missing matches. That should play into McCullum’s hands.
