The two remaining unbeaten records in the Big Bash League are put on the line on Monday when the Sydney Thunder take on the Adelaide Strikers in a really good looking match on paper.
The Thunder have gone from awful in the last two seasons to very good so far this season although their record is a little padded given that the Stars should have beaten them last time out. As it is the Thunder have recorded wins over the Sydney Sixers and the Stars.
Usman Khawaja was a big part of the win against the Stars but he is involved with Australia now so the Thunder will have to find a replacement for him but on the bright side their three world class all-rounders – Jacques Kallis, Shane Watson and Andre Russell are all available.
The Strikers have seen off the Melbourne Stars in their opening match and then went to the Furnace and knocked off the defending champions Perth Scorchers and they’ve looked good on both occasions it has to be said.
It is hard to see the Strikers making many changes for this match. To have won twice without their top order getting going is a real positive for them. They know they have plenty of power in their batting and it should in theory only be a matter of time before it comes out.
This should be a great match and while I would suggest the Strikers are value to win the match I’m not sure I want to be taking on the power that the Thunder possess. In fairness the Stars should have beaten the Thunder so they are beatable but I was hoping for a bit more in their price.
With that in mind I will go at the sixes market in this match. Both sides have plenty of hitters in their ranks and the boundaries at Spotless aren’t the biggest so they can be attacked. With Watson, Blizzard, Russell, Simmons, Ludeman, Rohrer, Hodge and Ross all on the pitch we’ve all the hitting power we need to get the required ten sixes.
