Caribbean Premier League Final – Guyana Amazon Warriors vs Jamaica Tallawahs Betting Preview

The final of the Caribbean Premier League takes place on Sunday night and the winner will come from either the Guyana Amazon Warriors or the Jamaica Tallawahs when the two meet in St Kitts.

Despite the different format of the playoffs to what is the normal format used in other competitions it is refreshing to see that the two sides who topped the table will meet in what should be a sensational final.

Guyana Amazon Warriors

Guyana made it through to this final courtesy of winning the initial playoff match, a match which was against the Jamaica Tallawahs so they will be very confident going into this final. That was a second win that the Amazon Warriors have had against the Tallawahs this season so they should be full of belief too.

Guyana have made it this far largely through the batting of Chris Lynn, Dwayne Smith and Jason Mohammed but it is their bowlers who have really shone. Sohail Tanvir, Adam Zampa and Rayad Emrit are all in the top four wicket takers in the tournament and they could provide the key.

Jamaica Tallawahs

Credit to the Tallawahs for bouncing back from what was a third successive defeat when they lost to Guyana earlier in the week to beat the Trinbago Knight Riders and make it into this final courtesy of a win in a farcical semi-final. That match finished crazily late and although they have had a day off in between I wouldn’t be surprised if it left a lasting effect.

We know that Jamaica have the batting to compete in this final but the big question is do they have the bowlers? Only one of the bowlers who will be in action in this final has more than 10 wickets in the tournament and that isn’t the best statistic it must be said.

Betting

Jamaica go into this final as the favourites to win but I’m against them here. I think Guyana have been the best team in the tournament and that should count for something especially with everyone having played 11 matches in the event, 12 for Jamaica.

There is a reason that Guyana Amazon Warriors have won two of the three matches against the Tallawahs this season and that is because they have a high quality bowling attack which gives no freebies and which keeps the pressure on even when the change bowlers come into play.

Bowlers win games of T20 cricket and the statistics between these two bowling attacks tell a real story. It is the table toppers for me in what will hopefully be a decent final to round off a really entertaining month or so of cricket.
