The final match of the CPL season in St Lucia takes place on Tuesday night when the home side the St Lucia Stars look to finally end their winless streak when they play host to the Jamaica Tallawahs in match 14 of the tournament.
This will be the sixth attempt for the Stars to win a match this season and if they don’t do it here we can well and truly forget about them in terms of being a competitive entity in this tournament. Jamaica are going nicely and a win will do them no harm at all.
St Lucia Stars
While we should recognise that the St Lucia Stars have been more competitive in their last two matches there are still few signs that they are a cohesive unit in any way and they now have the problem that when matches get tight they have forgotten how to win and that is the hardest thing of all to get back.
The Stars are beginning to bat a little better in the competition but now their bowling is beginning to go the distance. If they can get the two together then they still have enough time to sneak into the top four but the bell for the last orders has long since been rung so they have to win to stay alive here.
Jamaica Tallawahs
The defending champions might have a different set of personnel this season but they are going along nicely. They were the first team to beat the Trinbago Knight Riders and better still for them is that since that match they have had the best part of a week off so they should be totally fresh heading into this one.
You could argue that Jamaica don’t look as strong with the bat as they have done in the past but they certainly don’t lack anything with the ball. They look very strong in that area and as a result they have two wins from their three matches. Another one here with their home leg to come would have them in a good position.
Team News
St Lucia Stars surely have to change something in a bid to turn their form around. That doesn’t necessarily have to be personnel but change their batting order or something. Shane Watson could get a bigger role.
Jamaica Tallawahs have no need to change their side after the win over the Trinbago Knight Riders last time out. They should be unchanged barring an illness or late injury.

Betting
Even in their final home match of the tournament it is hard to side with the St Lucia Stars because they just don’t look in a position to win matches right now. This tournament can be great when you start well at home as matches come thick and fast and you can run up a series of wins quickly but when you don’t start well the opposite can happen and is happening.
In fairness the Jamaica Tallawahs probably look a better side on paper let alone in the tournament for real and even at odds on I think they are good things here. They are fresher and have plenty of variety in their ranks. I expect them to win this.
