The Caribbean Premier League is back in Barbados on Wednesday evening for the third home game of the season for the Barbados Tridents. Things are getting pretty crucial for them but the same could be said about the Jamaica Tallawahs too.
Jamaica go into the match in third place in the table but they have played more matches than anyone around them and have already used up their home matches. Barbados have played fewer than anyone else but sit outside the top four.
Barbados Tridents
We have reached the time where we need to start to worry about the Barbados Tridents. I say that because they are in the part of their tournament where they are desperately changing personnel to try and find a combination that works for them and if anything all they have done is made things works for themselves.
At no stage this season have they found a batting line up or order which works for them and equally at no time have they really threatened to put up a sort of total that you don’t expect to be chased down easily enough even allowing for the quality of their bowling attack. The bright side is that their bowlers are plugging away but they need help from the batsman.
Jamaica Tallawahs
Andre Russell and his men will be delighted to have got back to winning ways last time out. They look a completely different side in the Caribbean to when they play in America, which is something for them to think about should they play their home matches in Florida again in the future. Their comfort in the Caribbean should give them a lot of confidence here.
What will also boost their morale not just for this match but the remainder of the competition is the complete performance they put in last time out. Their detractors would argue that they only beat the St Lucia Stars but after finding ways to lose in Florida they just needed any win. They have a completely balanced side so they should be winning matches regularly no matter where they are played.
Team News
Hashim Amla could come back in for the Barbados Tridents having had long enough to get over his illness. Martin Guptill was very surprisingly left out of the previous match and after a shambles of a batting performance that is unlikely to happen again.
Jamaica Tallawahs will be forced into a change with Imad Wasim having left to join up with Pakistan. Colin de Grandhomme has linked up with the side in his place and it would be a pretty natural switch for him to come in for the departed man.

Betting
I think we are going to see a few more sixes in this match than we have seen previously here so far. I say that for two reasons. Firstly the Jamaica Tallawahs are probably the biggest hitting team in the competition and secondly Barbados have to come out striking with the bat and I expect them to load up their top order to do so. There is plenty of pace and bounce in this pitch so the batsmen will be able to hit through the line of the ball and so over 13.5 sixes looks good to me.
Jamaica finally pushed Rovman Powell up the order in the previous match and he delivered the goods off the back of it and I think he’s a big price to be the man of the match in this game. He made 64 in 37 last time out and backed that up with a wicket and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him bowl a few overs here on this wicket. His batting is the type that catches the eye though and another decent innings may well be enough to see him pick up another man of the match award here.
