CPL 2018 – St Kitts and Nevis Patriots vs Trinbago Knight Riders Betting Preview

The Caribbean Premier League is back at Warner Park on Saturday evening where the wicket will be the initial focus of attention after the shambles of the washout the last time the competition was here. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots will look to boost their record when they host the defending champions Trinbago Knight Riders.

Both sides are looking like they will finish in the top four come the end of the regular campaign so now it is all about finishing as high as possible to give themselves the best chance of coming through the play-offs. With that in mind the points will be precious here.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots

Two wins will guarantee another shot at the title in the postseason for the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and they would love to get one of them here to take the pressure off them for the remainder of the campaign. They still have three home matches left so they are in a great position but they need to ram home that advantage.

One area where the Patriots could do with improving is at the back end of the innings with the ball. Another slight area of concern is that they are a little too pedestrian at the top of the order and even some fireworks in the second half of their innings will not always get them up to a beyond par score, as we saw in the first match here.

Trinbago Knight Riders

It hasn’t been a flawless campaign by any means for the Trinbago Knight Riders but they will get the chance to defend their title in the final week of the season. In many ways it doesn’t matter what has happened so far it is all about finding form from here on in and the Knight Riders have generally done that as well as anyone in recent times.

I do get the feeling that the Knight Riders are ready to give a complete performance to someone and having had a few days since their last match I wouldn’t be surprised if that comes here. A complete performance would mean an improvement at the end of their bowling innings as well as a better output from their opening pairing with the bat.

Team News

It remains to be seen whether changes will be made to the bowling attack for the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots or whether the same side will be given the responsibility of putting right where they went wrong against Guyana.

Trinbago are beginning to find a groove now and so it would be a surprise were they to change their side unless there is an injury or illness that we don’t know about ahead of the game. They need to manage Dwayne Bravo’s death overs better.

Betting

We saw in the first match here that the wicket is pretty decent when there isn’t wet patches all over it and I’m expecting no different here on a Saturday night with a likely decent crowd in so I’m expecting the batsmen to profit once again.

The sixes line is 15.5 here which has to be on the low side. Both these sides are loaded with power hitters from Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis to Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine. Colin Munro, Brendon McCullum, both Bravo’s, Cutting, Brathwaite, King – the hitters just keep on coming here. There were 16 here in the first game which wasn’t overly high scoring and I’m expecting at least that many again.
