There is one match left in the CPL 2022 season before the final and it comes along on Wednesday night when the Guyana Amazon Warriors take on the Jamaica Tallawahs in Qualifier 2 for the right to take on Barbados Royals for the title.
The Warriors messed up their first chance to reach the final but will look to make the most of home advantage against a Jamaica team who have already won an elimination match and will be aiming to do so for a second time.
Guyana Amazon Warriors
The Guyana Amazon Warriors chose the worst time to put in their worst performance of the home leg of their CPL 2022 campaign. That came on Tuesday in the Qualifier 1 clash with the Barbados Royals where they went the distance with the ball and couldn’t really ever get anything going with the bat. Some ill-discipline cost them with the ball and they found out you can’t give good sides a leg up and bring it back easily.
The Amazon Warriors should just shrug that performance off as a bad day at the office. It was the only time they have played on this ground in a day match this season and it seemed to find them out. They have won all four night matches they have played here, like this one is, so that should give them some confidence. They will need to make sure they tidy up their performance with the bat and the ball but I don’t think they’ve turned into a bad side overnight.
Jamaica Tallawahs
A lot of credit has to go to the Jamaica Tallawahs for making it this far in the competition. I mentioned heading into the Eliminator that they had flattered to deceive since opening the competition with a couple of straight wins. They looked like they were going to do that again in their knockout match against St Lucia Kings on Tuesday evening when they were labouring with the bat and seemingly going nowhere.
A late cameo got them to a score which they had a chance of defending and then their spinners put the Kings batter in a vice like grip and never relented the initiative. I think in an ideal world the Tallawahs would bat a lot better than they have been doing and it might be that the batting frees up a little knowing that their bowlers can get them out of a hole if they fall into one. If they do bat better they look like being a tough nut to crack.

Key Players
Someone is going to need to get after the Jamaica Tallawahs spinners at the top of the order and you would imagine Shai Hope might be that person. He plays spin very well and has been in good form since the tournament landed in Guyana. The Guyana Amazon Warriors need another good knock from him here.
Mohammad Nabi reminded us why he is keenly sought after on the franchise circuit with a brutal cameo with the bat in the Eliminator before bowling brilliantly to wrap the match up for the Jamaica Tallawahs. A similar performance here will have his side ahead of the game.
Betting
The sixes have been a feature of the night matches on this ground. Even when the St Lucia Kings had a mare on Tuesday evening the line was still covered and given that we still have a 13.5 line for this match I think the over is a good thing again. The two matches between these two sides were low scoring in the first one in Warner Park and a little better scoring here in Guyana but you wouldn’t say either was the high scoring game we have seen recently.
Despite them not being the highest scoring games both of them had this sixes line covered. The fact that both teams played on Tuesday should be an advantage to the batters as one or two bowlers might not be at their freshest and we heard in commentary on Tuesday that the wicket being used for this match hasn’t been used in the tournament to date. When you put that all together I think we’re on course for more than 13.5 sixes once again.
