For the second time in a week New Zealand and Bangladesh will meet in a dead rubber on Sunday when the two sides play the 3rd T20. Courtesy of wins in the first two games New Zealand have already secured the series and will be looking for another whitewash.
Bangladesh have two Test matches to come so they will be looking for a win here to give them some sort of positive energy going into those.
New Zealand
Despite their top order still yet to fire as one at any point it has now been five relatively easy wins for the Kiwis against Bangladesh. Canniness and control with the ball has been the main reason for that. Their spinners offer good variety and the seamers get plenty of swing.
In an ideal world those who haven’t got runs yet will do so ahead of the Test series. At the minute individual performances are getting the job done for them. In the bigger series to come that won’t be the case so it is important they start batting as a unit.
Bangladesh
Not for the first time on this tour Bangladesh began well with the ball. But they just haven’t been able to maintain the pressure through the middle overs. By the time they have pulled it back at the death New Zealand have got away from them.
In the early stages of their batting innings Bangladesh were going along nicely. They were up with the run rate but a lack of depth combined with the run rate escalating they failed to get the job done. There were positives from that batting display they will aim to build on here.
Team News
New Zealand are expected to rest those who could play a significant part in the upcoming Test series. That means that Mitchell Santner, Trent Boult and Matt Henry sit out. Luke Ronchi is out with the injury he sustained in the last game.
Bangladesh May freshen things up ahead of the Test matches. Tamim Iqbal could be given a rest while Shakib-al-Hasan could also take a blow.
Betting
I’ve had a look at the usual markets for this match. With it being a dead rubber and the teams not being known I’m going to sit this one out. Both sides are talking about changes so rather than guess who will play and who will be stronger this feels like one to sit out.
