CSA T20 Challenge 2022 – Wednesday 23rd February Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The final day of league games in the CSA T20 Challenge takes place on Wednesday on a day where the semi-final line up will be finalised on what is all set up to be a very dramatic and tense morning and afternoon of action.

Going into the final day three sides can still claim the last spot in the semi-finals and they are all in action across the two matches. Top spot is also on the line so the group stage is set to finish with a bang. Both matches are live on Free Sports once again.

Western Province vs Dolphins (08.00)

The first match of the day is a pretty big one as both top spot and the last semi-final spot are up for grabs when the Western Province take on the Dolphins with the former looking for the win which means they finish top of the pile while the latter know a win will put them in the last four while they will be out with a defeat.

Western Province finally saw their unbeaten start to the tournament ended last time out but they were only beaten by the Titans, who will be huge favourites to win the competition from here on in. I don’t think it is a bad thing that they’ve lost a game, especially if they win here, because we often see teams dominate the first phase but when they are called upon under pressure in a knockout match are found wanting. That shouldn’t be the case with WP now. It is do or die for Dolphins in this match. It is effectively a quarter final for them. The Dolphins have lacked consistency throughout the tournament but it might be that their need to win means they will be at their best here. I’m not convinced their best is certain to be enough but the Western Province have already qualified for the semis and might not be at their best as a result. This is one to leave alone for me.

Warriors vs North West Dragons (12.30)

The last regular season game could either be a dead rubber by the time it comes around but at the same time it could easily be an effective quarter final. That will be determined by the earlier match where Warriors and North West Dragons will be hoping Western Province have won the first game of the day to set up a knockout clash here.

North West Dragons started this tournament with a bang, winning their opening two matches, but as it transpires all they beat was the worst two teams in the competition as far as the league table is concerned so they need to show something else here if they are going to end a four match losing streak. If that is going to happen they’ll need to post more than the 135/8 which is their highest score in their last three matches. Warriors ended a four match losing streak of their own last time out, and while they only beat the Lions, their batters have performed all season, they just haven’t been able to stop the flow of runs. North West have only put up a score in excess of 136 once all season and that came when Dwaine Pretorius had a licence to go mad with the game getting away from the Dragons. I don’t think they are a particularly good batting unit though so I like the Warriors here. There is a fear of betting on a possible dead rubber but if that is the case this is the Warriors’ home ground which might put a bit of emphasis on them to be the ones to win. In addition to that the Dragons are having to back up from a game the previous day which I always highlight is very difficult to do. I like the Warriors at the prices.
