The seeded players enter the European Darts Grand Prix on Saturday when the second round of the tournament takes place across two sessions of action out in Sindelfingen where places at the final day of the event are up for grabs.
That means that we get to see the likes of Gerwyn Price, Luke Humphries and Jonny Clayton for the first time this week on what should be a decent day of darts as we head towards the all-important last day of the event.
Afternoon Session
We start out with the exciting star Josh Rock on Saturday afternoon. He takes on Keegan Brown who is looking to make the most of his weekend as he bids to revive his position in the game. When they are done Dave Chisnall will look to continue his good first part of the season when he meets the local player Pascal Rupprecht. The current European champion Ross Smith is third onto the stage. He has a date with the former world champion Steve Beaton and the first half of the afternoon session concludes with Ryan Searle going up against Madars Razma.
Another former world champion is in action at the beginning of the second part of the session when Rob Cross goes up against Martijn Kleermaker who has been picking up some results at this level recently. Two Dutch players are involved in match six of the afternoon when Danny Noppert takes on Gian van Veen before Damon Heta will look to get the better of Adam Smith-Neale. The session concludes with Dirk van Duijvenbode meeting Daryl Gurney.

Evening Session
Given the number of high profile stars who have chosen to have the weekend off, the evening session might not be as strong as it usually is on day two of a European Tour event however it starts off with a clash between the current UK Open champion Andrew Gilding and legend of the game Raymond van Barneveld. Nathan Aspinall then takes to the stage to meet Jose de Sousa before two of the younger stars of the game meet when Luke Humphries plays Chris Dobey. Gerwyn Price takes us to the halfway mark in the session when he faces Ricky Evans.
We move into the second half of the evening with the former Masters champion Joe Cullen going up against Josh Payne who had a good win over Simon Whitlock in the opening round. Two home stars clash in the sixth match of the evening when Martin Schindler and Gabriel Clemens battle it out. The penultimate match of the second round sees Jonny Clayton taking on Ross Montgomery before Dimitri Van den Bergh and Krzysztof Ratajski round off the day.
Betting
There is just the one bet for me on Saturday and it comes along in the form of Raymond van Barneveld to see off an Andrew Gilding who hasn’t really pulled up too many trees since he won the UK Open, although he did offer up a decent weekend at the Players Championship last week to be fair. The issue he has here, as all of the seeds do, is that he comes into this match cold whereas Barneveld has had a match on the stage to adjust to conditions.
I would say this would have been a fairly even match if all things were equal but that advantage the Dutchman has might well sway this in his favour so even though Gilding is the UK Open champion and has gone well on the European Tour last season, I think being the big stage player that Barney is and the way his best darts tend to come on it, the even money on the Dutch legend to win is just a little too big. He averaged 98.11 in his win on Friday and was 6/10 on the doubles. If his numbers are anything like that here I think he wins.
