The second day of the European Masters sees the first round of the competition concluding on Tuesday when another three sessions of play take place inside the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes as the BetVictor Euro Series continues.
The big names all made it through on Monday and those who played their held over game on Monday will be back for more on Tuesday. A series of other household names will join them on a decent looking schedule.
Morning Session
John Higgins is the star man on show in the morning session on Tuesday and he’ll be on the main table. He will take on Jamie Clarke who will be looking to find some form ahead of the Welsh Open next week That will be a key match in the event but over on the other main table our pre-tournament outright bet will be on show when Liang Wenbo takes to the baize for the first time this week. He meets Duane Jones in what will hopefully be a comfortable win for the Chinese player.
There are two other matches which will be streamed on the bookmaker streams and the Eurosport App. They see Stuart Carrington taking on Yuan Sijun while the Chinese youngster Pang Junxu meets his countryman Xu Si. Then there are two matches which aren’t available to be viewed. They see Fergal O’Brien taking on Wu Yize while Fraser Patrick meets Zhang Jiankang in what is a big match for both men with what is at stage.
Afternoon Session
The afternoon session is loaded with talent with Ronnie O’Sullivan on the main table even though he has what should be a pretty one-sided encounter with Zhang Anda to endure. Mark Selby will continue his title defence on the other main table. He faces the man who is preparing to defend the Welsh Open title in Newport next week in Jordan Brown in what could be a tough tussle for the world champion if he isn’t at his best.
Once again there are another two matches on the streamed tables which sees the man who went down in a deciding frame in the final last year in Martin Gould going up against Louis Heathcote while Ricky Walden will look to continue his fine form when he faces Matthew Stevens. I mentioned this session was loaded and that is highlighted by the fact that Ali Carter and Tom Ford won’t have their matches streamed. They take on Sean Maddocks and Ian Burns respectively.

Evening Session
This is another loaded session of action with Judd Trump the headline act on the main table. He powered through his held over match on Monday when he beat Michael Judge 5-0 and he will face Jak Jones while on the other main table Neil Robertson will look to continue his fine recent run of form as he looks for a third title in 2022 alone. He will meet the veteran Alfie Burden for a place in the second round of the tournament.
Shaun Murphy is in action in this session as well. He has had a terrible season so far and he’ll be looking to put that right against Noppon Saengkham on one of the streamed tables while Anthony McGill meets Hossein Vafaei on the other. That leaves two other matches with one seeing Thepchaiya Un-Nooh going up against Mitchell Mann while Andrew Higginson takes on Kurt Maflin in the other one.
Betting
I’ll look to back up the winner on Monday with one bet on Tuesday which sees Noppon Saengkham going up against Shaun Murphy. It is no secret that Murphy is having a terrible season and a back injury is said to be a large part of that. It is said to be stopping him from putting in the practice and his results are certainly reflective of that. He did win his Turkish Masters qualifier a couple of weeks ago but Jimmy White was probably the perfect opponent.
Saengkham won his Welsh Open qualifier last week when he played some nice stuff in seeing off Tian Pengfei and has by and large enjoyed a better season than Murphy with the highlight being the run to the last 16 of the UK Championship where Ali Carter and Stuart Bingham were among his victims. Murphy doesn’t look like the man who made the world final just nine months ago and with the Thai slowly improving I think there is a shock in the making here.
