European Masters Snooker Final – Judd Trump vs Ronnie O’Sullivan Betting Preview

We have reached the final of the European Masters out in Bucharest and what a final we are in store as the two most watchable players in the game of snooker today battle it out for the inaugural title, the sizeable first prize and a major title when Judd Trump takes on Ronnie O’Sullivan.

This will be their fourth two session ranking event final in all and if it is as good as the previous three we are in for some contest. We’ve ditched the best of 11s now and this final will be played over the best of 17 frames.

Judd Trump

I was really impressed with Judd Trump in the semi-final. It wasn’t so much his scoring that impressed me. We know what to expect in that area of the game from the exciting left hander but the way he went toe to toe with Mark Selby in the safety battles and came out on top and regularly kept the pressure on was very impressive indeed.

That all-round game is something he has needed to elevate himself to the next level. He goes up against another master tactician here and he will be severely tested but with the ability to pressure on any safety game with his long potting there is every reason to think Trump will be hard to beat in this final.

Ronnie O’Sullivan

If it is possible for him to do it Ronnie O’Sullivan sort of went under the radar in the early stages of this tournament. His snooker wasn’t vintage and eye catching like we come to expect from him but that all changed in the semi-final when he was at his very best in blitzing Neil Robertson without conceding a frame.

The scoring was back with a bang in the semi-final as he began with a century and finished with a break of 96 with runs of 79, 92 and 63 in between and if he can repeat that in this match he is going to be very tough to beat. You get the feeling this final will come down to who gets in the best from distance, something O’Sullivan is getting better at by the match.

Betting

This is going to be a great final. These two are so good to watch that even if it is a one sided final it will still be great but I don’t think it will be all that one-sided. In the past even when he has been behind to O’Sullivan, Trump has shown he can fight back and make a game of it and if he steams clear himself he’ll have had to play some amazing snooker.

The bet I like in this final is for there to be more than 11.5 50+ breaks. I was considering the over 2.5 centuries but we’ve seen a few breaks fall down in the 80 and 90 range this week but Trump had six 50+ breaks in his semi-final win and O’Sullivan had five so most frames are going to see one so the overs looks fairly obvious to me.
