The middle set of action in the World Cup qualifiers concludes over a very busy Sunday where six groups see their second matches played out over the course of the continent on a night where the tables will begin to take shape.
We get to see plenty of the heavyweights in action on Sunday who will all be expecting to make it through to the final stages of the tournament in Qatar next year and can show all their credentials over the course of the day.
Group B
Spain are the big guns in Group B and while they were unable to win their opening match of the group they will be expected to make up for that on Sunday when they travel to face a Georgia side who will aim to compete but should be out of their depth a little. The other match in the group sees Sweden looking to build on their win in the opening game when they meet Kosovo who will be getting their campaign underway here.
Group C
The two big guns are involved in the two Group C matches on Sunday with Italy taking their side to Bulgaria who will be looking to make up for their opening game defeat. That defeat was to Switzerland who are also back in action on Sunday. The Swiss will look for successive victories when they host a Lithuania side who have faded fast over the last few years and look to be the ones there for the taking in this group.
Group D
The first match to kick off on Sunday comes from Group D where Kazakhstan are the latest team looking to get something out of the defending champions France. France were held in their opener on Wednesday so could do with a win to balance out the books here. Ukraine were the team who held France to a draw and they will go up against a Finland side who are improving all the time in what could be one of the best matches of the day.

Group F
This is the group which Scotland fans have their eyes on and their side are in action against familiar foes in the form of Israel who they have met a fair bit recently. They will be looking to build on their fine comeback against Austria in their opening game. Denmark got their campaign off to a winning start on Thursday and they will be expected to overcome Moldova who picked up a rare point in their first game. The other match sees Austria hosting the Faroe Islands with both sides looking for their first win in the group.
Group I
This is the England group and English fans will be locked to their TV screens in the middle of the three kick off times to see how their side build on their opening 5-0 win when they head to Albania. It was San Marino who received the beating by England and they now how a Hungary team who were entertaining in a 3-3 draw with Poland on Thursday. Poland should pick up their first win of the group here as they host lowly Andorra in what looks like being something of a mismatch.
Group J
It is fairly early in the group stage for two of the bigger sides to meet but that is exactly what happens on Sunday evening in this group as Romania host a Germany side who got off to a good start on Thursday. That start came in the form of a win over Iceland and the Euro 2016 surprise package will look to rebound from that when they head to Armenia in the early kick off on Sunday. The other game in the group sees an improving North Macedonia outfit taking on Liechtenstein.
Betting
There isn’t a huge amount that I like on Sunday despite the volume of matches but there is one that I think has mileage and it comes in the game between Poland and Andorra where I’m expecting an emphatic home win. I say that for a couple of reasons. Primarily because these minnow nations often find it hard to back up matches with their fitness not of the standard that the professional players are. The other reason is because I think Andorra have faded over the last year or two and they didn’t have much of a platform to fall from.
During the recent Nations League in backing up performances Andorra shipped three to an ordinary Malta side and then five to a bang average Latvia one so there should be the potential for Poland to fill their boots here. They failed to see off Hungary in their opener and with England to come on Wednesday this is not only a must win but I would suggest win well in order to take some confidence into that match. While Poland didn’t beat Hungary they scored three times with them looking much better when Paulo Sousa used his bench. That suggests that if he does rest one or two here he still has plenty of attacking options at his disposal and really the Poles should be putting Andorra to the sword here.
