The seeded players enter the fray at the German Darts Championship on Saturday when two sessions of matches take place to whittle the field down from 32 to 16 ahead of the final day of the competition on Sunday.
As ever on a Saturday in these qualifying events a seeded player meets a qualifier who have had a taste of the big stage already this weekend which can always make things a little tougher for the big stars to progress.
Afternoon Session
We begin the day with the Polish number one Krzysztof Ratajski meeting a Jamie Hughes who is showing some good form at the minute. When they are done Rob Cross will be looking to get back on track when he takes on the dangerous Dutch player Martijn Kleermaker. The focus then turns to one of our pre-tournament picks Dirk van Duijvenbode who meets Darius Labanauskas before we get taken to the interval by the UK Open quarter finalist Damon Heta. He meets Martin Lukeman.
The remainder of the afternoon session looks very tasty as Ryan Searle brings us out of the break when he faces Vincent van der Voort before Dimitri Van den Bergh will begin his quest for a European tour title when he faces Alan Soutar. The pick of the afternoon matches could well be the penultimate game of the session when Luke Humphries takes on Daryl Gurney. The Masters champion Joe Cullen will round off the afternoon when he takes on Ricky Evans.

Evening Session
It is an absolutely stacked evening session which we have to look forward to and it begins with the number one seed Jose de Sousa on show. He faces Kim Huybrechts in a good looking game before the UK Open runner up Michael Smith meets the defending champion Devon Petersen. Gabriel Clemens received a seeding for this event quite late in the day and he’ll look to make the most of it when he faces Dave Chisnall before we go to the break with Michael van Gerwen looking to bring his Premier League form to this stage when he meets Jose Justicia.
The stars keep on coming after the break as Peter Wright takes to the stage. The world champion and world number one meets the home star Martin Schindler before the Welsh star Jonny Clayton, our other outright pick in this tournament, looks to overcome the challenge of the former world champion Scott Waites. The penultimate match of the night sees Callan Rydz going up against Mensur Suljovic before Chris Dobey has the honour of closing the show against Karel Sedlacek.
Betting
A lot of the seeds look very worthy favourites over the course of the day on Saturday but one who that might not apply to is Jose de Sousa, who has lost four of his last five matches in all competitions with the win in that time coming in his opener at the UK Open where he beat Steve West. He followed that up with a 10-1 thumping at the hands of Jonny Clayton so it could be that his confidence is a little low going into his clash with Kim Huybrechts.
Huybrechts has been steadily improving over the last nine months or so and was perfect on his doubles in his win on Friday to make it to this stage. His scoring left a little to be desired on that occasion but that is usually the strongest part of his game so you would imagine that will come good in the end. The Belgian doesn’t have the best record against de Sousa but in their past meetings it has been the Portuguese firing on all cylinders and Huybrechts searching for form. That is the other way round this time so I fancy Huybrechts to pull off something of an upset here.
