Gold Cup Football 2019 – Wednesday 19th June Matches Tips and Betting Preview

We begin the second set of matches in the Gold Cup tournament on Wednesday night when Group A are back under the spotlight. Among the contests on show is the big heavyweight one in the section on a night where the first qualifier for the quarter final could be determined.

As with the entire event so far, both the matches are live on Free Sports for us in the UK and with the four sides on show all looking pretty entertaining in that opening night we are hopefully in for another exciting evening of action.

Cuba vs Martinique (01.00)

The two sides who went down in the first match of the tournament will meet to open up the action in Denver as Cuba take on Martinique with the loser knowing their race will be run as far as qualifying for the knockout stages go.

Martinique were well beaten by Canada but to be fair they should have fought fire with fire with the chances they created but panic set in when it came to putting the ball in the net and they failed to do so. Cuba looked out of their depth against Mexico, although that was to be expected so we might be better off judging them after this effort rather than that one.

I would expect Martinique to win this match and they will probably end up covering their 1.25 Asian line but I can’t be backing them with the way their defence was exposed in the first game. To be fair both the defences in this match looked ordinary on the opening night so I’m expecting goals in this one. If Martinique put one home early their confidence will grow and given that Cuba will have to come out this one can quickly turn quite wild.

Canada vs Mexico (03.30)

The second match of the evening will see the two teams who were winners on the opening night battling it out for supremacy in Group A when Canada take on a Mexico side who might have had a right touch with this clash being in Denver.

The Mexico players will all be used to the altitude and should be able to perform better in it so I’ll be interested to see how Canada go in the game. We certainly saw plenty of good things from the Canadians in their opening game and in level circumstances there definitely would have been a case for them to be competitive here but I can’t help but feel that conditions will go against them.

I think the best way to play this match is to take the goals too. Martinique exposed Canada in that opening game so Mexico could overpower them but I fancy Canada to offer something going forward with the pace that they have at their disposal so over 2.75 goals looks to have every chance, especially if fatigue sets into the Canadians late on.
