India vs West Indies – 3rd T20 Betting Preview

The West Indies conclude their tour of India on Sunday afternoon when the two sides do battle in the third T20 in Chennai. India have already won the series so this is a pretty low profile way to end proceedings.

This was meant to be the Caribbean men’s best chance of success on the tour but they haven’t really shown up for the first two matches. They have one last chance to make an impression before they depart the shores.

India

It took three ODIs for it to happen but India finally woke up and when they did they began running out comfortable winners in these matches. They have won the two T20s so far with plenty to spare and when you consider two of India’s most recognisable stars have not been included in the series that highlights how comfortable they are at the minute.

Just how desperate India are to secure a whitewash remains to be seen although they can never truly be allowed to ease off in this format since the IPL boom took place. In saying that, it is pretty clear that the focus has already shifted to the upcoming tour of Australia and it is hard to blame them for that given how iconic that is.

West Indies

Halfway through the ODI series it looked like the West Indies were going to turn this into a special tour but they fizzled out like a Bonfire Night sparkler and we haven’t seen anything close to a competitive showing from them since. Sometimes sides have nothing to play for in these dead rubbers but many of the men from the Caribbean are playing for IPL contracts and have a pressure free environment to secure it in.

I thought if West Indies were going to struggle then it would be with the ball in these conditions but it has actually been with the bat where their demise has come. You can argue that they are missing some big players but that does not allow for the awful showings they have offered with the bat in the previous four limited overs matches.

Team News

With the series in the bag and a huge tour to come India have given Kuldeep Yadav, Umesh Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah a well-earned rest. Wellington Sundar could come in on his home ground as one of the changes.

West Indies have to sort out their batting and it comes from their batting order. For some reason they didn’t pick any openers so they are struggling. Rovman Powell could come back into the side for this finale.

Betting

India have been so dominant in these matches that you would expect them to win this one but the fact they are resting some bowlers is a little bit of a concern and enough to make me head towards the side markets for a punt on this match.

India have smashed it with the bat all series and I don’t expect that to change too much here but with a second string bowling attack on show for India there is no reason why the boundaries should not flow here. Dew is going to be an issue in this match to assist the batsmen and neither side have much to lose so there should be a flurry of boundaries in this one.
