The opening match of two in the Indian Premier League on Sunday sees the Rajasthan Royals hosting the Sunrisers Hyderabad in what is the reverse meeting of the opening match of the season for both franchises.
Sunrisers won that match and haven’t really looked back but Rajasthan are on the way to recovering from that demoralising loss and a win here will certainly assist them in their quest to push on for a place in the top four.
Rajasthan Royals
The Royals have had the rare luxury of a few days off in the run up to this match having not played since last weekend but they start a pretty hectic run here so it is important that they continue the positivity of their win last time out. If they can build up a head of steam over this next period then they could do their chances of qualifying for the playoffs the world of good.
If they are going to build up a consistent run then their batting has to deliver the goods. One match in Bangalore aside you get the feeling this is a batting line up which is devoid of confidence and which isn’t assessing game situations very well. Their bowling has been find throughout the tournament for the most part.
Sunrisers Hyderabad
I guess you could say the same thing about the Sunrisers Hyderabad because their batting has not got going at all this season yet but time and time again their bowlers have rescued them trouble. That has certainly been the case in their last two matches where they looked miles short with the bat only for their bowlers to step up to the plate.
I’ve thought all along that this team are too heavily reliant on their opening pair and one or two others in the batting department and if a team blows their top order away there is not a huge amount of substance behind them. That said you can’t really criticise a side who are winning matches and this lot are.
Team News
Rajasthan Royals are expected to be unchanged from the side which defeated the Mumbai Indians in their previous match. Jofra Archer made an instant impression in that game and he’ll stay in the side as a result.
Sunrisers Hyderabad will hope to have Bhuvneshwar Kumar back for this match although to be fair they’ve not really missed him in the matches that he has not been a part of recently. They may be unchanged if he is not fit.

Betting
I don’t really want to back either of these sides because I’m not sure I can trust either batting line up against the quality of bowling they will be facing. Both sides have shown their credentials with the ball recently but more importantly both have shown a serious struggle with the bat in hand.
Going on that last point, I think we may well see a low scoring match here. The reverse meeting between the two was and with Jofra Archer in the side you would think the Rajasthan Royals’ bowling will be stronger than it was on that occasion. Only the last of the three matches in Jaipur have had more than 329.5 runs in total and that needed an insane blitz of runs at the death to cover. Given the quality of both bowling attacks and the struggles of both batting line ups I’m fancying the under 329.5 line here.
